New (very used) car has a sunroof that is stuck open. Repair requires removing the headliner. One of the steps of removing the headliner is to remove the footstep plate at the bottom of each of the four door frames. This is the sort of thing I hate about fancy cars.

My ex-tenant's felony charges for theft and assault against me have been joined by many more for breaking into and robbing another storage unit, carrying a gun and ammo without a license, etc. He's being held as a danger to the public pending trials. Hopefully they put him away.

In what way is it inconsistent? They get exactly what's in your repo.

It's common for defense attorneys in court here to enumerate the reasons the defendant is a person the law shouldn't apply to.

This week I heard one person described as a father of three, aged 7 months, 19 months, 2 years. Assuming one mother, she's been busy!

I'll never stop being surprised when I discover a team or project or community who have coordinated on a single dev tool stack to the point that it's nearly impossible to get the project working, let alone debug it, using any other stack.

Today in the 7-figure lawsuit re selling my house: Final attempt to confer with the other parties on my next motions:
1. Strike, dismiss, or sever my co-defendant and their claims.
2. Judgment on the pleadings or summary judgment on the claims preventing sale of the house.

Today in criminal court: My ex-tenant (who is in jail) for stealing tens of thousands of dollars of my stuff and threatening and assaulting me. Me for being at the courthouse within 50 yards of my other ex-tenant with a restraining order against me, when we had a hearing there.

Superior Court unexpectedly gave me a hearing date later this month. There's time before then to get some motions filed (the process takes weeks in this court), so I guess today is Motion Drafting Day!
(This doesn't advance the state of the case, that's still not til January.)

Canceling my January/February plans now that the big lawsuit has been delayed three more months. It sucks to not know whether I'll be free next spring or summer to make plans for then, even.

Latest MA courts nonsense: After being rescheduled twice, the judge declined to hear my motion to compel that was filed in June because the other side provided some discovery in October.

I gave up on my motion to compel discovery to avoid another month of delay in the seven figure civil case keeping me trapped. Now we can *maybe* have the next step in the case... in 3 more months.

You might say that those reliving experience increase the quality of the nine mediocre years, but that doesn't really get at the point here. A lot of uses of the QALY metric look at individual experiences and the value of single years.

Consider one amazing year and nine mediocre years. If the amazing year comes at the beginning, then I can relive those memories over and over, increasing the total value I get from that year. I think the decade where it comes at the end would usually be overall worse.

Is there a QALY-like metric that accounts for how long you can remember them?
One hour of unimaginable pain might significantly reduce my QALYs. Is the reduction the same if I can't remember it at all afterward, such as due to amnestic drugs or just shock response?

At least these days it's just major bosses and story points.

Did you ever play FF7 and have to sit through the Knights of Round animation multiple times in one fight? Or Bahamut Zero four times in a row using Quadra? Multiple minutes per attack.

Play games with permadeath / hardcore mode / etc, and procedural level / boss generation?

I sometimes fantasize about a world where you're a text author and we get to experience your imagination at a pace not constrained by illustration.

Today's laundry puzzle. Hand washing this disc binder wasn't difficult, just time consuming to get into all the plastic-cloth-plastic pocket layers. Drying required a bit of brainstorming.

Some time 2-24 months from now I'll be free of the lawsuit trapping me here. I'll have between $500k in debt and $1.5M in profit. I'll only get a few weeks notice of when and how much. I wish I could afford the services of professionals to improve the timeline or outcomes.

I'm a big fan of weird auctions, but this email subject line is a new extreme for me.

As much as I complain about delays of 2-6 weeks in Housing Court and 2-3 months in Superior Court, they don't hold a candle to the MA Appeals Court. The last brief in my case was filed in April. We don't even know yet *if* there will be oral arguments, let alone when.

Do you live by the teachings of Jesus Christ, or are you a Christian?

If that were the case, she'd still be saying it in other fights.

This is actually my plan for fixing landlord/tenant law in MA. I intend to give as many tenants as possible a playbook for drawing out evictions for years, swamping the housing courts with bullshit hearings. I can't see another way to force the court and/or the legislature to fix the problems.

It took four weeks for my new court-appointed attorney, who I've never met, to return my phone call in advance of the 10/10 hearing. I bet it's going to be another continuance. How many times do I have to appear in court before I can show the video of me not committing the crime?
