I had the immense pleasure of putting together an illustration for this new australian Magazine, very humbled that that @serrels.bsky.social and @jacksonwryan.com chose me to scribble on their first cover.
Please consider backing local australian journalism. there are stories here worth telling.
Awesome (1990)
This is a deranged thing to say to someone wtf. www.pcgamer.com/games/fps/ov...
Today on GamesHub, a website with very real authors, Tanaka Haruto is promoting "upcoming" video game "Hollow Knight: Silksong" confirmed to released in Q3 2026.
"When Silksong lands, it won’t just dominate the 2026 discussion in Australia; it will be the center of the global gaming conversation."
I found your post when reverse image searching the (human?) author of this post, and had to jump on. I'm surprised they got the name of the game right, considering studio, location, funding, genre, platform mostly wrong. Hallucinations...
I made a tool that makes retro anime sound effects. Meet AnimeVox!
I made it for a game, but it's free to use.
I'm using the forgotten (but popular in 80s japan) Schroeder reverb algo, and some wobble.
If you find it useful consider supporting me on itch :)

Check out the marvellous Game Poems magazine! Yes, I have a little something in there, and, yes, it lives up to the dream of publications that manage to include (and be about) interactive/games stuff!

Hey yall. As you've seen here - unfortunately a large portion of the ivy road team was laid off today, myself included. We're all looking for work! Gonna do a quick thread about those who were laid off today and why you should hire them:

the Cave Story mockup that almost came out officially.
I worked with the Cave Story publisher Nicalis for a few months developing a pixel art but higher resolution version of the game.
Pixel approved!
Here's also some upscaled sprites, showing options #pixelart
Here's our round-up of games from January 2026!

Built a palette extractor that thinks like a curator, not a pixel counter.
– Physics-based color repulsion
– Auto-detects muted vs vibrant bias
– Adaptive spacing to hit target count
– OKLCh color space (perceptually uniform)
Early Access: please break it!

I think we’re long past the point now that anyone can justify travelling to the US like it’s a normal functional country. Absolutely baffled by people still going there for holidays or conferences.

"Point-and-click" started as a camera phrase that was adopted by authors to refer to using a mouse. Suddenly in August 1989 two different magazines described two different games as a "point-and-click adventure."
So glad it was my entry point. Probably most often revisited too. The density of those jungles, set against vast emptiness.
Hey, if you’re in the game industry and have a literature degree, would you please comment?
We got a family friend over here who insists my having a career in games while holding a literature degree is a one-off aberration and per usual, I’m not letting it go.
this belongs in a frame
i'll admit it i like the process of iteratively refining a game element until it feels right to me, i think it becomes game design (derogatory) when it ceases to be an expression of your pure soul. that of course means some game design will arise unavoidably as your soul rattles the bars of its cage
‘everyone in gamedev is using AI’ the business dumdums are using it to generate decks and write bad copy. They think it’s good because they think their basic lore ideas make a good game. that’s it that’s who is using AI
I was disappointed to see the store page description put his name front and center while not mentioning any of the creators of the original games. This industry’s obsession with auteurs is not healthy.
Okay please let's not call him that
