Last week we kicked off our first lab meeting of the new academic year. No scientific presentation this time. Instead, we were tasked with designing experiments to answer some *truly critical* research questions.

As a humanities professor, I completely agree with this take. Students will occasionally say to me "I chose this class because I thought it would be easy"

I usually ask them, "why did you think that would be easy?"

I know the answer, but I think it's useful for them to feel comfortable answering
