I frequently say you don't need to protest. You don't! There are a thousand other ways to push back on fascism if protesting doesn't feel comfortable or safe for you!
But if you CAN go, this 10/18 #NoKings thing is really a key protest to participate in. Be part of it, friends.

Over 1 million children in Rajasthan drop out of school each year, many due to economic challenges. RSKS India's “Education for Every Girl in India” aims to ease financial burdens by providing school supplies & help motivate families to support their daughters' schooling 🎒📚

That's an extremely specific example, and not what I was discussing. As mentioned elsewhere, this was in response to the idea of 'pavlov training' people with this technique, not briefly walking away from a harmful situation to de-escalate.

23.09.2025 23:32 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0I do still have some qualms about applying this framing to a broader range of social settings (families, politics, public discourse) as was being discussed here. But that's a much broader/deeper discussion and this may not be the place for it (not sure I can put thoughts into words yet anyway).

Food banks stretch $ on food (fill gaps donations miss etc) really well. Moreover, they need money for operating costs like power and staff wages.

To put this back in the original family context–
A grown-up child reinforcing an established boundary with their parent by leaving the room every time.
vs.
A parent silencing their child on a certain subject by leaving the room every time.
The power structure changes the effect significantly.
A phrase like "stop trying to reason with them, change their access to the behaviour" has an extremely different ring to it when you are the 'object' of that rhetoric. Please be extremely careful and thoughtful about how you apply this. Also read about 'the double empathy problem'.
23.09.2025 19:33 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 2 📌 0Maybe this is my neurodivergent school trauma speaking, but this kind of theory can go south extremely fast when the person effecting the 'behaviour modification' has power over the person being 'modified'. A lot of pedagogical research uses flawed methodology that ignores long-term effects.

I have supported OIAA causes since they began. They took a break during enlistments but they are back. Their philosophy is that even micro donations make a difference and ARMY has stepped up since 2018 to show we can help! They don't take any money directly so all money goes directly to the cause.

He is jumping with his right arm pointed straight up in the air. The rest of the poster has a beige background with animated flowers along the bottom. Text elements include: the campaign hashtag Read with RM, OIAA birthday campaign 2025, Start a Library Trust logo with their motto “A library in every school”, a description of the campaign and websites for the charity and OIAA. The campaign text reads: Start a Library Trust (SAL) is a Kenya-based non-profit founded in 2012 with a mission to champion literacy in Africa by creating thriving communities of learners and teachers. They collaborate with schools to set up sustainable libraries, providing access to books, educational resources, and literacy programs. SAL aims to improve literacy rates and educational outcomes in underserved communities by fostering a lifelong love for reading and learning. SAL’s new campaign Refresh the Shelves is just in time for International Literacy Week celebrations (Sept 8th-12th). Some of SAL’s earliest libraries, the very ones that started their program, are running out of stories. The shelves are still standing, but the books have been well loved and are now old, torn, and too few to keep the magic alive. The campaign looks to revive 20 of their oldest libraries.
Let’s celebrate RM’s birthday! 🎂

This threatens fundamental privacy rights and digital security for all EU citizens. Currently: 3 member states opposing, 15 member states, 9 member states undecided You Will Be Impacted Every photo, every message, every file you send will be automatically scanned—without your consent or suspicion. This is not about catching criminals. It is mass surveillance imposed on all 450 million citizens of the European Union. Mass Surveillance - Every private message, photo, and file scanned automatically: no suspicion required, no exceptions*, even encrypted communications. Breaking Encryption - Weakening or breaking end-to-end encryption exposes everyone's communications—including sensitive financial, medical, and private data—to hackers, criminals, and hostile actors. Fundamental Rights - Undermines your fundamental rights to privacy and data protection, as guaranteed by Articles 7 and 8 of the EU Charter—rights considered core to European democratic values. False Positives - Automated scanners routinely misidentify innocent content, such as vacation photos or private jokes, as illegal, putting ordinary people at risk of false accusations and damaging investigations. Ineffective Child Protection - Child protection experts and organisations, including the UN, warn that mass surveillance fails to prevent abuse and actually makes children less safe—by weakening security for everyone and diverting resources from proven protective measures. Global Precedent - Creates a dangerous global precedent enabling authoritarian governments, citing EU policy, to roll out intrusive surveillance at home, undermining privacy and free expression worldwide.
‼ Fight Chat Control - protect EU digital privacy! ‼
The EU may soon mandate scanning private messages and photos, possibly by October.
PLEASE, contact your MEPs now - the site has their details (for all EU countries!) and even a message generator to make it easy!
