Fascinated at how news coverage in #roc is reticent to mention how Joe Morelle’s son’s lobbying of Monroe County for AirBNB included sending MC the first draft of opt-out legislation, that they sat on for 200 days before pushing it through at the last minute.
I requested this info from Bello admin right before Thanksgiving. Typically, they reply to all legislators. Less than 24 hours before the vote, they have not provided any of this. Providing it day of (if they do at all) is not acceptable.
Damning. Another reason to vote no.
Democracy dies in darkness- so why are we going to trust a lobbying firm that fights public power? Monroe county should take advantage of the tools the state has given them to ensure we’re collecting the data and tax revenue we need to keep things running smoothly.

And now, we get no meaningful discussion. Public hearing is same day as vote, also the only time legislators can get to ask public questions.
