San Antonio is correctly known as "Military City, USA", and El Paso can claim the largest military installation and swath of restricted airspace in the continental United States. Our state is proud of our thousands of active servicemembers, their families, and the work they do in defense of our country, because they volunteered to do it - and did so by swearing a sacred oath of enlistment, which includes a solemn vow to "support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic". I don’t understand the phrase “soaking the rich” even when the top rate was 90%, that only applied to income above a very high level. With deductions and exemptions those in the 90% bracket only actually paid 35% or less of their income in taxes.
