But it’s easier when you’ve already started.
Writing has its own inertia to it. A writer writing finds it easier to keep writing. A writer not writing has a barrier that needs to be overcome to start writing. Not to say you won’t eventually run out of ideas and need to pause.
As a followup to yesterdays post on writing, for aspiring writers when you first start in the day my advice is cast off all your doubts and worries about doing it well, don’t even necessarily think about it, just start writing.
Writing is a muscle. Excersise makes it easier to use, and makes you get more for your effort. But remember to give it breaks, or you’ll strain it and it’ll take a while to get back to where you were.
Don’t know if this will help anyone else, but when writing if you get stuck, try writing ahead in the chapter. Sometimes writing out of order helps you figure out what to write in between those parts. It’s better than letting your brain get stuck on how to describe a particular action.
That would be one of the things I’d need to less change and instead make more apparent. So many questions in the comment on how people could fall into that kinda mindset and I’m tempted to just throw up links to Wagner Group or some of the more infamous paramilitary groups or propaganda effects.
