I haven't been there yet! I just looked up pictures and my goodness, STUNNING. It's now on the list. I can totally see why it's your happy place. ❤️😊

So stunning. It's a really long beach and one end is for horses. And it's always such a treat to see a couple belting along.

Short description: You're looking at a beach as the tide is going out on a sunny day. Long description: You're looking at possibly the best picture I've ever taken to capture how perfect the beach at Rabbit Island can be. Before you, stretching into the distance is some damp sand that looks shiny and smooth, reflecting the sun's light. It's a greyish brown, almost silver really in this picture. In the sand you can see odd holes and marks that have been made by a group of women in their 80s, doing their daily walk with the aid of some walking poles. There're also some tire marks from a pushbike that was ridden by a woman wearing a floral dress with bare feet. She's just behind the photographer heading into the distance as this picture is taken and you'd hear her tires crunching on the sand if you were standing here. The sea to the left is crystal clear with just a hint of a white foam breaker wave. And in the distance, there are some mountains gently sloping down to the sea. They're violet and blue in colour in this light. Overhead is a blanket of fluffy white clouds in a big blue sky. While standing here you'd hear the click-click whirr of cicadas in nearby pine trees along the beach, the calling of gulls and the wash of the sea. The sand under your feet would be delightfully damp and cool and the sun overhead would be hot on your cheek. The air smells like pine trees and the sea.

*Ute is short for utility vehicle, an iconic Kiwi/Aussie vehicle. In this case, this was a vintage red 70s Sandman Holden Ute.

Any typos spotted in this post were rather chuffed to get to the beach for an early morning walk today. If typos spotted, please remind them to put a bit more sunscreen on. The sun is bright today and they just might need it.

A man (40s?) and a young human (8?) alight from a ute* grab their towels and a soccer ball. Towels dropped the minute they get to the sand and the soccer ball flying as they kick it all over the place. Laughing and roaring at each other as they run. (5)

Two women (20s?) are cantering their Arabian ponies along the tideline. Arabian Ponies are putting on a show with their tails high, nostrils snorting. Water splashing at their hooves. A big sky and mountains in the background. (4)

A small human (3?) wearing a pink wetsuit and a bucket hat splashes out of the water and runs, arms pumping, up to Mum who's holding out a beach towel. Enveloped in a big hug in seconds. Her excited tale of "SEEING A FISH!" drifting down the beach. (3)

A man (50s?) holding a fishing rod stands ankle-deep in the outgoing tide next to a camp chair and a chilly bin.* Glass calm water flowing around him reflecting a clear blue sky. Gulls gliding overhead. A gentle breeze blowing. (2)

A man (60s?) is rubbing sunscreen on his fidgeting partner's back as they stand next to their car.
Huffing she says: "Can you hurry up?"
He grins: "Shaddup and relax will ya? We've got nowhere to be but here." (1)

Any typos spotted in this post just had a delicious dim sum breakfast at a new Chinese restaurant in their small city and they are full of ALL the dumplings. If typos spotted, they'll be rubbing their tummy and maybe groaning a little bit in happiness, as is traditional in situations like this.

Looking optimistic at Grandad, he says: "I would like to try going there VERY much." (3)

A small human (4?) is sitting on a stationary tractor ride, leaning into imaginary corners, roaring to Dad: "I'm going so fast Dad! SO FAST!"
Dad nods: "Ya better watch where you're going then eh."
Stationary Small Human says: "I would but it's SO FAST. WHOA!" (2)
