Republicans nationally have all the power they could ever want, and they're using it to defund Medicaid, shut down the government, destroy the environment, and send troops to American cities. This is the Republican pipe dream realized. We have to win in 2026.

As a result of the Republican shutdown, 22 million Americans will see their health insurance premiums skyrocket next year — by an average of 114%.

Today, I was in downtown Portland walking peacefully with Oregonians to say that we don’t need military intervention here.
We are peaceful.
We are united.
We are Oregon.

The Republican health care crisis is a deadly serious issue.

Taken just a few minutes ago outside the ICE facility in Portland that Trump claims is under siege. My message to Donald Trump is this: we don’t need you here. Stay the hell out of our city.

Every single one of these clips was taken today in downtown Portland. Portland doesn’t want or need a federal takeover. If Trump insists on sending federal “resources” he can start with funding health care, bridges, affordable housing, and wildfire protection to name a few.

My office is reaching out to the White House and Homeland Security for more information. We have been provided no information on the reason or purpose of any military mission. There is no national security threat in Portland. Our communities are safe and calm.

Our statement on Trump's deploying of military troops to Portland: Our community is not a warzone. Oregonians deserve solutions, not political theater. The administration should abandon this misuse of power.

There are credible reports that federal agents may be replaying the 2020 playbook and surging into Portland with the goal of provoking conflict and violence in my hometown. I am in close contact with state and local officials to monitor this activity.

We are now hearing rumors that the Trump Administration may be increasing federal forces in Portland. The power of this city is in our ability to care for our neighbors. Please take care of each other, stay safe, and stay peaceful. Don't take Trump's bait.
