#Brexit has made only a modest difference to the number of foreign-born people in work in the UK. Leaving the EU has not resolved the dilemma facing all European governments – between maintaining #employment as societies age and political pressure to reduce #immigration.

The new immigration regime in 2021 raised the number of workers from the rest of the world by about 992,000. The net effect was a modest rise of 207,000.
According to new research by @jdportes.bsky.social and @johnspringford.bsky.social, #Brexit reduced the number of EU-born workers by about 785,000.
