8/ The part the public DOESN’T know is that in the firestorm after Locke’s killing, Frey called Davis, then on vacation in Mexico. Davis — fully expecting Frey to discuss how to better control MPD — instead found the mayor pleading with him to fly home & stand with Frey at a news conference.

Minneapolis Mayor Frey Admits To Being Misleading On 'No-Knock' Policy Changes
"Language became more casual, including my own, which did not reflect the necessary precision or nuance. And I own that," Mayor Jacob Frey said.
7/ Caught in a lie, Frey never apologized. Instead, we got his famously weasely “Language became more casual, including my own.” BTW this is the 1st election voters can hold Frey accountable for lying & Locke dying, but the incident is almost memory-holed in coverage. www.cbsnews.com/minnesota/ne...

Just saw One Battle After Another. Really incredible film. Seems like best picture will be down to that and Sinners. I’d probably choose Sinners, by OBAA was fantastic

Same. I’ve worked with childcare providers in MN. The regulations, even if I agree with them, are a daily challenge without adequate funding. Providers barely make the finances work, and when someone is inevitably out sick, your ratios can fall out of compliance and you have to scramble to cover.

Yep. MN does have strict ratios (iirc it’s like 4:1 for infants). This is great in terms of safety, but effectively is an unfunded mandate, so we end up in a situation where childcare in MN is extremely expensive *and* childcare workers are woefully underpaid.

Hubbard Broadcasting, which showed the hour-long Kupchella anti-DSA commercial, contributing to a pro-Frey effort. Given Stan Hubbard’s GOP activism, it‘s basically Republicans for Frey.

Was just reading this. The author also wrote this line: “Arnold had hunted enough deer to recognize a kill shot, so he began to pray not for Kirk's survival but for the country he was leaving behind,” which is just an incredibly insensitive, tacky thing to print on the front page of the NYT.

We’ve reported extensively on how the FDA allowed foreign drugmakers to send generic medications to the U.S. from factories with filthy labs and contaminated equipment.
This month, we’re digging deeper and could use your help. THREAD/

i know people are eager to show MPD working with ICE but you really gotta slow down and verify info before sharing it. what are MPD supposed to do if they get called in, just not respond? but if they do, then it gets painted as ICE collaboration based on photos without info. dangerous stuff here

Love efforts to improve what can feel like an incomprehensible system. Downtown is challenging because the streets already aren't on a neat North-South, East-West grid, and then the skyways cut perpendicularly across those angled streets. And the internal way-finding signage is atrocious.

The MMR vaccine is one of the most stunningly effective medical therapeutics in existence. It’s also safer than most of your everyday activities. This is simply an attempt to stop people from vaccinating.

I know this sounds extreme. It is.
I know I sound overly alarmist. I don't think I am.
Trump is enacting a well thought out plan so he and his allies can rule forever.
But it's not too late to stop them. We can peacefully and forcefully mobilize now. We have the power.

We aren't on the verge of an authoritarian takeover. We are in the middle of it.
But I worry people don't see the whole scheme. They just pay attention to each new daily outrage. So I went to the Senate floor to explain Trump's plan.
Here's a 🧵of the speech. It's important.

Screenshot of a WCCO article about the vandalism at Temple Israel.
Anti-Semitism has no place in our city, and the hate speech found at Temple Israel this morning is unacceptable. Minneapolis cannot, and will not tolerate violence against our communities, and we stand with our Jewish neighbors.

Solar and batteries had a record-setting, grid-stabilizing summer in…
Solar has set 17 power generation records in Texas so far this year, shoring up the grid alongside batteries as some gas plant developers step back.
The historically volatile Texas grid was entirely stable this summer, despite extreme temperatures. Grid operators never once had to ask Texans to conserve energy or shut off their air conditioners.
Why? Solar & batteries. Want a stable grid? Try solar & batteries.
