I crouched down, so it wouldn't see me, and it kept coming closer and then zipped right past me, with the sun in my back..

Yes of course. I have a Nikon Z8 with the 180-600 mm Nikkor. This was a very lucky encounter. I was walking along some dirt tracks that cut through the fields in an area where I had seen a female Harrier a few days prior. Then I spotted this male bird quite a bit of a distance away and walked in...
