I'm officially quitting my second job! I was offered full-time at the salon, and I'm not going to keep killing myself working multiple jobs.

Not to be dramatic or anything but after 2 years of working multiple jobs, I'm on the precipice of quitting my side gigs and supporting myself solely doing esthetics, and I'm pretty jazzed about that

I stole a client from one of the other estheticians (not intentionally) because she loved my massage. She asked how I got so "good with my hands", and it took every fiber of my being to not say "I've been gay a long time"

I appreciate my dad being my personal hype man asking me how much money I make every day that I'm at the new salon even if it's kinda gauche lol

I lost like 10 pounds in 2 weeks from stress/work/lack of sleep and I guess it was noticeable enough to my dad that he's now constantly doting and checking on me. He made me lunch and brought me a drink with a straw and keeps asking if I need anything whenever he passes by

Every fuckin day I wake up exhausted and I would love if that stopped

I can only compare it to like when white people want to show how 'cultured' and worldly they are and they speak totally normal English but then emphasize non-English words in an accent.

Again I'm saying this purely as a reader/writer versus a translator but it often gives the impression that the translator wants to 'remind' the reader that this is a translated work, and keeping basic shit like "Mr./Mrs." or even "mountain" in the original language makes it more 'authentic'

It's a huge problem with English translations across the board IMO, like I can only speak from a perspective of reading Chinese/Japanese translations and seeing basic words kept in to add to the ~exoticism~ of the story, despite being pointless in context. It feels really gross!

I had a dream about Tuesday last night. The biggest takeaway from the dream was how much I just wanted a piece of her to hold onto, something of hers that remained in this world. Proof that she existed. It's a lot.

Also everyone talks about how great my modalities and massage is, and that's because I work with a massage therapist and she's given me a lot of pointers lol

I got some feedback as well and they complimented me on my attentiveness, my ability to take feedback and be redirected positively, as well as my ingredient knowledge. I am good at education and also great at building a rapport with people, which has always been my strength

My issue was, naturally, that I'm an anxious people pleaser perfectionist. I was filled with first day jitters where I wanted to impress my educators and I just kept fumbling through the new protocol. But today I knew what to expect and I already had plans in mind to help get through the process

My first day of introduction training for this new facial bar ended with me crying in my car in the middle of DC. No tears today and I feel a lot better!!!
