@wosoalice.bsky.social reports on an entertaining 1-0 for the Newcastle Jets.
When she said she had no realistic dreams of owning a house I was devastated.
21.11.2025 19:36 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0Yeah, it’s definitely a problem. The lure of a home tournament for players and administration is potentially clouding some decisions

A bit worrying that national team staff didn’t have any say in a player pulling out of a camp.
20.11.2025 20:45 — 👍 11 🔁 1 💬 0 📌 0I think the thing that people are afraid to say out loud is that there was a 4 year plan to have these players peak in 2023, somehow it worked almost perfectly, but it can’t be sustained.
That miracle plan working is really something to be proud of not scared of.
My reaction with EvE is always that she should be left out too, but unlike some others she has a really good record at tournaments.
I do think age-wise & the way the sport is developing, this really should be the last dance for her though
I put it up at the other site in reply to something, but it’s irking me that we keep giving this same squad another “last chance at a trophy”
At a certain point you need to make major changes to take that final step
He could win the whole thing and we learn nothing too.
I think there were commercial considerations in some squads post 23, they really wanted to fill those stadiums like the team was a band on tour
Yeah she deserves it, but she should’ve had more than 1 chance with Aus
19.11.2025 23:18 — 👍 3 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0What if?
What instead of playing an aging defender in midfield for Australia we used the ones like Laura Hughes?

That's the fear of a youth worker thinking about the consequences of Australia's teen social media ban.
I wrote about their concerns for their clients, some of the most vulnerable and disadvantaged teens, and about their ability to work with them.

Here’s a recent one. It’s been covered a lot more in podcast eps and is surprisingly hard to write about because APL fudge the attendances to say it’s much higher for double headers, but they do the count at 75 minutes, which is just early men’s fans.

@allyc.bsky.social was in attendance at Joe Montemurro’s press conference as the latest #Matildas squad was announced
She hasn’t worked in the last 4 coaches system, really great dub player, not a strong international

17.11.2025 00:21 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0The 2 changes if make to the latest #Matildas squad is Kennedy out for Nash and Yallop out for either Gomez or Teesh McKenna.
I think being the player of the tournament in the U24’s should’ve earned Holly Furphy at least a training run
At least Kyra minutes?

The Socceroos 2005 documentary on P+ is instructive as well as nostalgic.
A few senior, high profile players mention how Hiddink was intent on not letting them get complacent about their places in the squad, and the impact that made.
Feels like there’s a lesson in that for the #Matildas too
