Way back during #artfight a friend drew my warlock Latkiโ€™s god Koblat.

Could you imagine getting both of these creatures at the same time? Nothing would be safe haha

It's been fun to pick my mum's brain about it. She is also relearning it with me. I definitely recommend trying it if you like repetative tasks and good sound effects.

Square solid bobbin lace pillow on a desk. The middle of the pillow has a pattern. Pins hold twited thread in place to create lace. Each thread is attached to a small wooden bobbin.

I've been practicing bobbin lace. Hopefully my Belgian great mรฉmรฉ is proud. Half the bobbins are still wound from her in the 1940s.

"Out of the Cradle." Timed edition prints available at www.wyliebeckert.com

The world is a fraught place to build a nest. It's interesting to wonder what (beyond biology) drives us to keep creating more of ourselves, even as the existence we can promise future generations becomes increasingly grim.

Comic made of 5 panels in black brush pen with 2 colour highlights. The first panel shows someone's feet walking through grass, it reads "I remember...". The second shows a hand picking a yellow daisy shaped flower from among other flowers, it reads "that day...". The third is a close up of the lower half of a person's face and shoulders, they are smelling a bouquet of the yellow daisy flowers. The fourth shows the person in a forest carring the bouquet as they climb away from the viewer over a tree root. The last panel reads "the day that I died". It depicts the person slouched against the large tree among its roots, dead, the flower bouquet scattered on their torso. From the tree and the ground around it blue hhostly hands reach and grasp at the body.

Participated in a comic challenge. Thr prompt was 'I remember the day that I died'.

I've always loved comics, but am overwhelmed when I try making them. This shorter style was way more approachable for me.

Lino cut print depicting a head from the shoulders up. The the head is floating above the shoulders from a cut in the neck from which tendrils sprout. The tendrils grow upward around the head and from the ear. The left eye is wide and the pupil looks like a cell dividing. The right eye is obscured as that part of the face is cut out showing that the inside of the head is hollow. Little patches of short hair are above the ears and on the top of the head, but the forhead and scalp are covered with sprouting polyps. These same polyps are present on the shoulders. The expression looks stunned/blank with the mouth agape, teeth exposed.

I still call myself a printmaker despite not making any prints for years. It comes down to the fact that I still volunteer with the local printshop, and I won't shut up about printmaking if you get me started.

I think my second favourite detail, outside of the neck tendons, is the broken bones on the rib cage <3

I had plans to volunteer at the museum today sorting bird eggs. But all the water valves in my apartment have to be replaced, and of course I have to be present.
I will return to you eggies, my obsession will not be denied!

Going through my archive of photos to upload here. Some I had almost forgotten about.

Yes! Especially since my art is separate from my work in science. It just feels odd to call myself scientist

I fight with this concept a lot. I tend to focus on the technician role I fill and I feel better introducing myself as a technician vs a scientist. Especially since my bachelors degree is actually fine arts and my biology is a diploma ๐Ÿ˜…

Broke out the watercolours tonight. Grabbed the image from my sketchbook and redrew it bigger.
Kinda proud that I did some art today. Kinda want to copy it again and try different lighting.

Sketch of a body in coloured pens. Shows a torso with hands resting infront and a head thrown back in agony. Around the head layers of jaws with teeth bared are layered. The colours transition from blue in the hands to orange at the head.

I draw a lot of body horror. Putting the pain of mental illness and chronic pain onto the body so that it can be visible.

There are many days where it feels like my thoughts are trying to eat me alive.

Two watercolour paintings on one page. One is a pink and orange jellyfish with a dark background surrounding it. The other is a colorful bird showing it's chest and head.

I am not in the habit of keeping photos of my art on my phone. Gotta make sure there is space for all the plant photos.
