I 100000% bet people are gonna claim credit that "complaining works" when Metroid comes out and it just happened to not be the way they said it was. Not like Sonic which got changed WAY before it's release, they are absolutely not changing major aspects of a game less than a month before release.

100000000% they are solely talking about pokemon and don't actually know any other JRPG's or didn't at the time. If they are saying it started in the PS2 era then the most popular would be stuff like FF10 which 2 seconds of looking at it would disprove any notion that it is for kids only.

and on the case of being alone, it is certainly not the first game to have another character anyway. Of the mainline games it's techncially the 4th although I will give that MP3 barely included the other characters so 3rd. Adam absolutely counts.

I wish we would actually give the game a chance , I mean we waited this long and this preview barely even went into the game.Why are so many people judging it already based off that? It'd be different if maybe it was the whole game, but no one even knows. 20 years just to dump it is sad.

I suppose it is in line with metroid "fans" to hate a game due to something strange and then come back and call it a masterpiece years later. Happened with prime 2 and fusion (2 of the best in the series)

It doesn't need to be perfect that is way unreasonable, one bad thing ruining a whole game this early is honestly childish and unnuanced.

All these metroid fans spoiling themselves before the game even came out. Yous are all talking about how shit something is from a preview, now yous are entering the game with a negative bias because of one guy who may or may not even exist more than what is shown. This is why i avoid prerelease shit

On a final fantasy forum I was on we had a wee pokemon tournament thing and one guy was roleplaying as one of the characters in this game who had like blue or purpleish hair and i guess this character is supposed to be a bit cruel because there was drama over the responses they would give in RP 😹
