๐คฉDawn Sky Show: On Thurs morning watch the Moon pair up with Saturn & Fri the Moon joins brilliant Venus. Easy to observe with naked-eyes looking towards the east, 1-2 hrs before sunrise. No need for telescopes to watch this beautiful gathering of neighbouring worlds - just clear skies!
๐โญ๏ธSky Now: the crescent moon and planet Venus together. This is my view from Montreal, Canadaโฆ. -16ยฐ Celsius!๐ฅถ Amazing to think that Venus is so far away that light takes his ver 4 minutes to reach our eyes, while the Moon is just over 1 light seconds from Earth!
Six planets will align in the sky this month. @thenightskyguy.bsky.social joined Andrew Carter to discuss how and when you can see them:
The incredible alignment of the moon, Jupiter, and Aldebaran tonight is a beautiful metaphor for lifeโs journey. Each celestial object shines in its own way, just as we each have our unique paths. Embrace wherever you are on your own journey! #JourneyToGreatness #CelestialAlignment #Inspiration
Iโm taking a late night walk through the forest tonight and looking straight up this is what I see between the trees. Can you see this bright stellar trio?
BTW - the funny name 'Quadrantids' comes from an old retired constellation called Quads Muralis removed from star maps back in 1922 because the maps were overcrowded. The neighboring constellation Bootes absorbed the stars. But they kept the name because there was already a Bootid shower.
โ๏ธSky Tonight: Look for the New Years Shower aka Quadrantid meteor shower to peak tonight into Sat morning. Expect to see anywhere from about 10 meteor per hr (within suburbs) to 30 to 60 per hr from dark countryside.
๐คฉSky Tonight: An eye-catching pairing of the Moon with orange-hued Mars in the constellation Cancer, the crab. The cosmic pair rises in the east late Tuesday night and the color contrast is quite dramatic.

๐คฉSky tonight: Jupiter is currently in opposition = it's at its closest point to Earth, offering a dazzling display in our night sky. Grab your telescopes and binoculars for a chance to witness Jupiter's clouds & its largest moons. Look for the planet to rise in the east soon after darkness falls.
The lunar halo last night was massive- spanning a full 40 degrees across the sky. ๐ฎ. Did you catch it too?
