Heute habe ich einen kleinen Ausflug nach Brandenburg/Havel gemacht, denn die neuen Škoda-Straßenbahnen waren heute erstmals im Fahrgasteinsatz. Auch die Fahreigenschaften machten einen guten Eindruck.

Die von Siemens gebauten R-Wagen der Straßenbahn Frankfurt am Main sind eine vollständig andere, frühere Konstruktion.

Es ist ein Combino Advanced der Straßenbahn Melbourne, gebaut von Siemens. Die gibt es in Amsterdam, Bern, Erfurt, Freiburg i.Br., Nordhausen, Poznań (Posen) und Ulm, auch dort aber stets in etwas anderen Varianten.

Dieses Fahrzeug ist definitiv nicht baugleich zu irgendwelchen Frankfurter Fahrzeugen (egal, ob Main oder Oder).

Wie lange brauchen 200 Personen, um im Frühverkehr auf einer 3,5 Meter breiten Fahrbahn eine Kreuzung zu überqueren? Mit dem Auto mehr als 5 Minuten, zu Fuß etwas mehr als eine halbe Minute. Schneller als zu Fuß geht’s nur mit Öffis.

Ich vermute außerdem, dass man einen Straßenbahnfahrzeugtyp gewählt hat, bei dem unter den getroffenen Annahmen ein Wagen gerade so nicht für 200 Personen reicht, sondern bspw. für 190, so dass in den 80 Metern eigentlich deutlich mehr als 200 Personen sind. 😅

(Z. B. 4 Stehplätze pro Quadratmeter bei der Straßenbahn, aber basierend auf der zulässigen Masse und damit vielleicht 7 pro Quadratmeter beim Bus.)

Wobei das Verhältnis zwischen Straßenbahn und Bus nicht passt. Wurden da vielleicht Kapazitätsangaben mit unterschiedlicher Berechnungsgrundlage der Stehplätze verwendet?

Actually there aren't turning loops at *every* terminus. At Glienicker Brücke there's a turning triangle instead.

Gothawagen T57 – Wikipedia

Nein, das in Istanbul ist ein Gothawagen (Typ T57 oder T59), das in Berlin ein Rekowagen. Sehen ähnlich aus, haben aber beträchtliche Unterschiede (allein äußerlich: achte mal auf Türen und die Anzahl der Fenster).

A fundamental part of the U-Bahn definition is, that it ist *completely* seperated from road traffic and other transport systems.

🤦‍♂️ If it doesn't have tracks, it's not a tram.

A "trackless tram" is an expensive bus.

So why do you post a picture of a bus in London?

It's very hard to say why for sure - but my personal hunch is that this isn't unrelated to expansion of the tram network, which has seemingly supported rapid jobs growth in the highly productive city centre (3/4)

Aus Rostock hatte ich noch keine derartigen Meldungen vernommen, aber aus Halle (beide erst im Probefahrtenstadium).
Eigentlich hatte ich für Rostock Hoffnung, da der Prototyp des TINA-Drehgestells in Kraków auf Normalspur getestet wurde und es somit vielleicht ein spurweitenabhängiges Problem ist.

(Wobei natürlich die exakte Konfiguration mit Spurweite, Wagenbreite, Länge etc. durchaus mainzspezifisch ist. Auch sind gemäß der Visualisierung die Fenster für Mainz länger als bei bisherigen ForCity-Smart-Varianten.)

Was in der Pressemeldung steht, stimmt durchaus: Fahrzeuge dieses Grundtyps hat Škoda schon an mehrere andere Betriebe geliefert und sie haben sich bewährt. Insofern sind grundsätzliche Probleme eher nicht zu erwarten.

A Combino Advanced tram stops on a green two-track route in between two car traffic lanes. The car traffic lanes are raised to work as a level-boarding platform. There are some H and zick-zack markings on the road.

I know at least one stop without any traffic light, not even a flashing light: Nordhausen, Theaterplatz.

Straßenbahnrasengleis ist so ein tolles Wort und ein noch tolleres Konzept. Bin großer Fan davon. Konzept Tram eh schon wunderbar, Konzept Tram auf grünem Gleis ist das beste was es im ÖPNV gibt.
