It's currently $24.80 / day for me to train to work, and the fares are about to go up again. Really adds up fast over the course of a week.

What's My JND? Find your Just Noticeable Difference in colour perception. How small a colour difference can you actually see?

That was fun! I had the most trouble with the blues, others were easier. On my phone, brightness up, but very sunny room.

So proud to be the @greens.org.nz candidate for the new electorate of Kapiti, stretching from Whitby and Paremata in the south through to Ōtaki in the north.

Really excited to help elect a new Government this year with not only a compassionate Green heart, but also a strong Green spine.

Around 18% would probably see me in on these numbers. This isn't the final list though, this is just a draft that gets provided to all members. Members then get to rank according to their own preference so I could still move up (or down) from where I am now.

Final list will be late April/early May

Nah its a super strong list with some great people on it eh - both existing MPs and new candidates. Unfortunate reality of our system that everybody has to be ranked in comparison to each other.

I mean he's probably related somehow? It's not that common a surname.

Old bellows used to provide oxygen to firefighters Wall of photos of firefighting and badges from other stations

The museum was a real lesson in how protective equipment has improved over the years, and it was pretty sobering to hear the real impacts firefighters who used that old equipment are facing with huge increases in cancer taking many lives.

Table with old hoses and other firefighting equipment Firefighting gear and patches on a wall

After our meeting wrapped up, was great to chat with some of the FENZ team about their jobs and learn more about their gear, and then it was deeply impressive to see how quickly they got into the truck and out the door when a 111 call came in.

Selfie in front of breathing apparatus hanging on a wall A firefighter points out things on a wall full of photos of fires

Absolutely fascinating to check out the small firefighting museum at Wellington City Fire Station yesterday.

I was on site for a meeting of @fireandemergencynz's Wellington Local Advisory Committee that I'm a member of.

Move-on orders 'not welcome here', Wellington leaders say An open letter decrying the introduction of powers to enable police to relocate people from certain areas has been sent to the Prime Minister.

Genuine kudos for this from my region's civic leaders.

Speaking with one voice against this immoral law change.

Jorja Miller is one of the most dominant rugby players I've ever seen. Her ability as a big game player is simply phenomenal. And she's still only 22! Incredible. Black Ferns Sevens win again, what a team!

Seifert was never going to be able to do it on his own. There's been no support at all. Really don't see what we gained by playing Chapman ahead of (in form) Conway throughout this tournament. #INDvsNZ

Fantastic comeback here at the back end of the innings after an awful start from us. Giving ourselves a chance perhaps? #INDvsNZ

As one of the Predator Free Kāpiti Coast steering group members, it's really cool to get to help start our rōpū up and work collaboratively with the volunteers and agencies already doing great predator control mahi on the ground to create a Kāpiti where nature thrives!

All but one of the photos on the website are mine too, a nice excuse to show off some of the beauty of this wonderful part of the world.

Predator Free Kāpiti Coast

I built my first ever website aged 10 in self-taught HTML. Safe to say things are a bit different now, 31 years later, but I really enjoyed pulling together the website for Predator Free Kāpiti Coast recently and am pleased to set it loose into the world.

Three dead koi carp in a net

Koi carp are a destructive pest, eating native fish (and their eggs) while also destroying aquatic plants and reducing water quality.

Hopefully now they're gone these waterways will slowly restore themselves and be a great space for people and native fish and tuna alike to enjoy!

I was lucky to spend time this morning with Ātiawa ki Whakarongotai and the Department of Conservation helping to clear out koi carp in Paraparaumu.

Made the decision not to wake up at 2.30 for the World Cup semi final. Absolutely gutted about that now. What a win, what an innings from Finn Allen. Can't wait to watch it delayed tonight. Let's go Black Caps!
