Great first day at #ECEAI - ideas are already flowing and it’s lovely to be able to catch up with so many colleagues and friends! Such a beautiful space in Uppsala University for the opening events as well.
Great views from the Buachaills on a clear day!
Great day for a hike up Mangerton!
Had a lovely time at the #EUALearnTeach Forum the past two days catching up with colleagues and discussing a range of topics from empowering students to tacking wicked problems in HE and being future ready. Was great to present our work on GenAI staff/student surveys and actions for training.
Check out the latest issue of Alphaville, hot off the presses!
We've wrapped up our Graduate Information Literacy module PG6009 for 2024/25 at UCC Library.
82 research students attended the full course this year – very much a collaborative effort among Library colleagues & contributions from colleagues such as @lorettag.bsky.social
👍 to everyone involved
Thanks Paul!
I was happy to contribute a case study of my experience collaboratively developing and delivering a micro-credential course "Fostering Academic Integrity in Learning and Teaching" to this recently published bumper Special Issue on Third Space in HE. Available here: lnkd.in/gmB2YuHJ
Lovely day for hiking around Gougane Barra.
Our open publication "Using GenAI in Teaching Learning and Assessment in Irish Universities" is now available! You'll find 31 use cases from across disciplines in this resource. It was great to collaborate with 7 unis on this to capture what's happening in Irish HE.

I spoke to artists about the creative process and generative AI www.siliconrepublic.com/machines/art...
Fog made the first hike of the year an atmospheric one!
This is well worth a read. All important critiques to consider to ensure we are making informed decisions about GenAI in education. I have particular concerns around #8 that overuse and/or uncritical use may not only diminish these human capacities but also the value we place in them.
Congratulations to @lorettag.bsky.social and @thelen.bsky.social for the national recognition of their impactful work in academic integrity, digital transformation and Generative AI @ucc.bsky.social.
Thanks Catherine!!
Really delighted to receive, with Sarah Thelen, the inaugural SATLE Impact Award in the category of Academic Integrity from the Higher Education Authority. Now to start planning our next project in January!
Something HE will need to consider - if Leaving Cert students are allowed to use AI (with acknowledgement) for their project work, it will be increasingly difficult to simply tell students they can't use AI at Third Level. Assessment design and security will be key.
Cutting through the jargon, this paper by Katy Dineen & @lorettag.bsky.social on ‘virtues and vices in academic integrity’ provides a useful taxonomy to better understand academic integrity and the actions that contravene it. #GenAI #highereducation www.tandfonline.com/doi/epdf/10.... #eduSky
Join us on January 9th for "AI and Assessment Hackathon" in collaboration with @UCC Skills Centre. Participants will design changes that can be used in teaching practice - whether immediately or in the future. Register to attend via shorturl.at/eguy2 @thelen.bsky.social
