I love living in the forest. This is my morning visitor. They must have a den nearby, I love free rodent control too 😊 From counting bats 🦇 last night, to watching foxes run by in the morning and any number of local species my deck is a true wildlife viewing platform. Love it. #naturalists 🌿
A neighbour stopped us on our morning walk to say how grateful and thankful they are that our dogs are so well behaved. I said thank you and it’s work. They don’t come pre programmed. And having large breeds makes for extra responsibility. Our good poopers ☺️ #dogs #dogsofbluesky
🔥 Carney loves genocide so much he’ll use our tax dollars to fund it. leadnow.ca/campaigns/ar...
Many cis women deal with hair loss and lack of breast development. I didn’t develop breasts for many years and felt less than. Now I have them and I honestly do not like them. But that’s just me. I hope you can find comfort in whatever does work for you and wish you the best on your journey.
They are both pathetic scum.
Double bonus here as we’d have a lot less neighbours. I’m all for it.
Some of the earlier native blooms from around our yard this year. It’s will always be a work in progress but worth it. Wild roses and Thimbleberry blooms, False Solomon’s Seal, Twisted Rose Stalk and the oh so useful Heart Leaf Arnica. #naturalists #gardening #flowers #wildflowers
These are my moss pots. All collected mostly from my yard, varying in age. Featuring a few native plants, the occasional fungi and hatching insects. They are like my pets. #moss #naturalists 🌿 #gardening
Always goes on the paper calendar and then a big note on the fridge but I might miss those. Alarms. 3 of them: an alarmed appointment on my iPad calendar, one on my phone calendar and the actual time alarm on the phone because it won’t stop till I shut it off and I can set it for a specific date.
“What? Is there something in my teeth?”
If you like Chillquarium check for Fishdom. I’ve been playing that one for years and never had to spend on it. I play on an iPad now but it was originally released on desktop.
When it was colonized.
I tend to respect if not love almost all bugs but earwigs freak me out. I do not blame you.
Picked just over 2lbs in no time. I swear the branches said “Thank you” as they lifted up after having so much weight taken off. Just the first skim so there will be a lot of pitting this year. Not my favourite part. #gardening
Guess it’s time to start lightening the load on the cherry trees. I planted one Siberian dwarf hybrid in 2017. Now there’s at least a dozen of them. We can’t grow sweet cherries in our zone (zone 3) but we can make some spectacular pies. #gardening
I was just given one this year, not new but my knees are still grateful 😊
My Wax Begonia. So delicate yet so strong. No direct sunlight for it but it has taken more tumbles (dogs) than I can count over the years and still brings me blooms every summer ☺️ #gardening #flowers
Forced sterilization isn’t enough? You’d like some dirty shots of the RCMP who were created to suppress and kill First Nations still at it? Here you go. Nothing has ended. globalnews.ca/news/6556771...
“Genocide means any of the following acts committed with intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnical, racial or religious group”. In whole or in part. It is both genocide and systemic racism.
It’s not just old timers. First Nations children are apprehended by the government waaaaay more often the Caucasian children and they are less likely to ever regain custody still. And then there’s the forced sterilization that is still happening…. It’s not over. apnews.com/article/cana...
And we haven’t even scratched the surface. I knew people who grew up in the residential schools. I saw the legacy of the trauma of colonization first hand and you can still see it if you look. We know little of how bad it actually was because we have spent so many years refusing to see.
And it was not that long ago (might still be happening) that we forcibly sterilized First Nations women against their will. Hell the mayor in Quesnel was forced to step down for promoting a book denying the whole residential school situation. We are so far from where we should be.
The flowers on my Violet Gem potatoes are just as lovely as the potatoes themselves. #gardening
I have actually managed to grow some corn from my sad little impulse buy at the grocery store. They were all in sorry shape but less than $5 bucks for 6 seedlings got me. #gardening
I have spent years building up our native flora in our yard and the Fireweed has shown an interesting characteristic in one area: multi branching flowers. It’s always one single stalk of flowers but not these guys. Nature is always interesting. #naturalists 🌿 #gardens #nativeplants #bloomscrolling.
The Russula in my yard keep disappearing. I suspect the squirrels. I have even found half eaten Amanita up the trees. They are living the life.
Thank you for that. I’m going to log it into my iNaturalist account. I’d been told they are hard to identify so I hadn’t bothered but it sure looks like Hood’s sedge and there are no sightings in my area. Much appreciated.
Local (unidentified) sedge. When you look close at the little things you’ll find an amazing world. #naturalists 🌿 #gardens
