Coffee, technology with a focus on SAP, craft beer and whisky. Usually in that order for best results. Likes taking nature photos far more than editing them. πŸ‡ͺπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡¦πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸ‡¬

You are underestimating the compounding awesomeness of continually fixing small broken things.

I guess the Paris public transport uses HTML as a layout? Or at least tries to?

Shameful, truly. Also goes to show that Labour is just as guilty of environmental vandalism as the Libs.

#1 Google Nestling vs. Fledgling
#2 If you find a nestling (little to no feathers) you can put them in a basket and give them back to mama and papa bird if you can’t get to their nest.
The human smell thing is a myth.

1. LLM-generated code tries to run code from online software packages. Which is normal but
2. The packages don’t exist. Which would normally cause an error but
3. Nefarious people have made malware under the package names that LLMs make up most often. So
4. Now the LLM code points to malware.

How much do you think it costs to make a pair of Nike shoes in Asia?

Before you open this thread, take a guess. Settle on a number and then compare it to what you'll learn in this thread. 🧡

About 250M years ago, 90% of species on Earth died during the Permian extinction. All of that loss created a lot of vacant niches to fill.

Not long after, the first mammals, our ancestors, appeared.

The only people I’ve ever seen advocate for it - at multiple companies - were FI consultants. So maybe you’ll find one of them?

Because the benefit is narrow and hypothetical, and the costs (via complexity, inconvenience, etc) very real and applicable to everyone, I’m not a fan. My last two greenfield projects did not use Golden Clients and were fine.

02.04.2025 23:59 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

There is a narrow benefit for Finance consultants: changing some config can be quite difficult if transactions have been posted in accounts. A Golden Client separation fixes that, but only if the project is still in Dev only. If you’ve started moving to Test, then it’s no use anymore.
