I am in an endless waiting game 😅😞. I resubmitted a grant that got an excellent score b/c… and am waiting on reviews.. 🤞🏽🤞🏽. Got a score on the Mira… but am waiting since PO can’t say… 🤞🏽🤞🏽.. and planning on what else I could write about and submit. Crazy, isn’t it?

This. I feel all of this. Hang in there, Needhi. Like you said, what works, if it works is revise and submit…
Fingers crossed for you. 🤞🏽💪🏽

Very sad news. Gail Martin (1944-2026) was a figure in developmental biology. She pioneered the field of ES cells.
A great colleague, a friend and a lovely person.

I wonder if it’s study section specific. I had an impact score of 20, with 8 percentile June, ‘25. NICHD (IC). I did not get funded, and have resubmitted the grant, but the correlation of impact score vs percentile seems to be study section specific rather than the new rules. Maybe? Idk..

forgot about this crowdsourced resource to help people strategize for MIRA and DP2 applications that may help navigate this new funding landscape:

Excited to see this out in the world. The CGC is launching a curated strains collection, the first being protein degradation systems and this is a pilot primer to pair with it authored by myself, Dave Reiner, Ann Rougvie, and Aric Daul. We review the state of the field and provide use guidance (1)

Bruce Springsteen - Streets Of Minneapolis (Official Audio) YouTube video by Bruce Springsteen

I wrote this song on Saturday, recorded it yesterday and released it to you today in response to the state terror being visited on the city of Minneapolis. It’s dedicated to the people of Minneapolis, our innocent immigrant neighbors and in memory of Alex Pretti and Renee Good.

@springernature.com can you please do something about this!? I have paid open access fees to your journal, and yet you cannot send papers to NCBI? The scientific community reviews for free, are editors, and now has to pay exorbitant open access fees while our grant dollars continue to decline!

Agreed… 💯….. as an author, reviewer, scientist, editor, i completely agree that constant vigilance is our only hope.

David's AlphaFold WorkShop 2026 YouTube video by David Fay

Greetings! I decided to make a YouTube video of my AlphaFold workshop that I've given a few times in the past year. Caveats aside, people seem to find this useful for thinking about how to model protein interactions and how to interpret various AF outputs 1/2

I can see this. And I suspect we will discuss it. But as Benoit said, mostly people who come back likely liked the experience vs those who did not (as anything in life). In either case, there is no intent on part of the editors to harm (if you will)…

The "Hard Truth" about how hard it is to publish in Development. We wrote this to really drive the point that we are a discerning community journal, and we really want to publish your best developmental and stem cell biology contributions.
