It's been very different since the tower collapsed. The heiress orders us around and then apologizes, but she won't budge her intrusive figure, won't disengage her vague, uninstructed glare until somebody -anybody- gets fed up and does her bidding. Good discomfort, because going through it is how you know you'll get rid of it. The heiress, recipient of fuck all, keeper of shit, nosy bastard who cannot help herself. It's bewildering because you can't pin her position on skill, wealth, or looks, charisma, nor nepotism. It's like she was born to have her way, even if no one likes her. The tower ran itself into the ground because it hated her so much. A fraction of it stands, a sloping wall, a sort of pile, to add insult. I hated the tower. Putrid house of abuse and lies, the tower resented me deeply, it's fun for me to see the wall. The tower wanted me to hate the heiress and it destroyed itself doing so. I resent the heiress for not bringing down the tower herself. She spoke to anyone who'd listen of how she'd been ready to bring it down for decades now. Of all her brilliant contingencies and all the blows she parried, endured and diverted. I ate that shit up. The tower was so poisonous I felt as if the heiress was a still lake under a soft sun and a breeze. Either you eat a little bad berry or sink into a pit of scorpions and spiders, ultimately the death is poison, but I think of layers and how they may matter.
