stores have no idea how much shoplifting takes place, they only know when stock doesn't match records. how much is due to human error, incorrect shipments, breakage, and theft is a guess. literally cannot know if shoplifting is on the rise.
this was a radicalizing discovery for me.
A lot of services straight up wont work with IPv6, including a lot of VPNs.
05.03.2026 09:48 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0
IPv6 is about address pool size, you have VASTLY more address to hand out than with IPv4. There are essentially no applications an end user will run into that will require IPv6 & a bunch that simply wont use it.
Honestly you can usually disable IPv6 on your nic and never see the difference.
A VPN can be part of that, but its more often than not an extremely weak part.

And as always, nothing will make you safe from all threats, even if they have a no logs policy thats held up under governmental pressure, you're not anonymous.
Security is, as always, about knowing your threats and taking reasonable steps to mitigate them.
A VPN is just someone elses intranet you pay to use. That intranet might come with actual features that improve your security, usually at an administrative & records keeping level, most will boast that they do.
A bunch absolutely do not, even when they say they do.
I will add on that while a VPN is not *necessarily* a security tool, it IS part of a good security toolkit and they *can* have security measures such as a "no logs" policy. Though those are generally less useful than theyre advertised as, and finding one with independent verification of that is hard

Fuck i hate phone keyboards
Feels like a meme device, which is probably why I gets used by bad actors more often. Kinda like how a lot of mass shootings involve an AR, calluses its relatively cheap and widely available.

I don't know who needs to know this... but...
A VPN is not a privacy application. It doesn't hide your location data, specifically. It doesn't encrypt your data, specifically. All it does is route your traffic through a single server somewhere else.
Let me explain. Or don't, this is the internet.
I'm not gonna lie seeing that "dunking my phone in the pool" post is kind of jokerfying me

Pocket the Street Alchemist is doing numbers over on Tumblr for some reason, so here you go Bluesky! I hope you enjoy this dumb moment from a lil weirdo NPC I introduced in my D&D campaign a while back!

You've been muted btw, so respond, don't... I'm' not going to be responding further or even see it. Good luck.

I'm not going to litigate this with someone who self-admittedly doesn't really care enough to notice any trends while this platform bent it's own ToS to allow figures like Singal on board.
Sorry, you're wrong about this one.
I never mentioned a conspiracy & it's odd you feel the need to paint what i'm saying as if I did. Bluesky moderation's actions are well known and those actions paint an attitude of over enforcement against trans people and very little against bigots on this platform.
05.03.2026 06:41 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Technically they have one, but it is not enforced with any regularity. They have a history of very uneven enforcement of their rules that preferentially favors transphobes and bringing the hammer down on trans people.

The explicit breakdown is here clerk.house.gov/Votes/202683
It's a little confusing because it's a vote on refering it to commitee (the thing that effectively kills it) so the votes are recored as yes' instead of no's.
182 democrats voted to kill it. only 27 didn't.
Also The flipper zero seems really bad at being both a neopet or a hacking tool.

The bluesky team is bad at making a website or running a company and more or less stumbled into being semi-popular by dint of twitter imploding & they fucking haaaate it.
I'm honestly surprised that ANYONE at bluesky can code at all.
Yeah, guy bluesky programmer who loves announcing he can't code and doesn't understand the difference between "water resistant" and "waterproof" would also be a "likes the presidents account on here" kind of guy, too.

But like... it's fuck out there, staring at the wall is understandable.
