I haven’t gotten around to 3 yet but I guess tbf, the reason they probably went all in on 3 being a lot more XG-inspired is cuz it’s the last game in the Trinity Saga of Xenoblade, so Takahashi might’ve wanted it to be a strong love letter in finally finishing the story he wanted for Gears and Saga.
