I stopped by a friendโ€™s house yesterday and was greeted by this lovely (and very tame) bird. โ€œWe have lots of #peacocks in the neighborhood,โ€ he said. #Birds #BirdsOfBluesky

This is my favorite. I had just finished listening to this on The Chieftainsโ€™ Bells of Dublin album when I opened Bluesky and saw your post.

I tried a spotted one a couple of years ago but it didnโ€™t thrive for me.

The first buds on our #mango tree this year. They are about three weeks earlier than the first blooms last year. The fruit is ready to harvest in June. This is the โ€œJulieโ€œ variety. ๐ŸŒฑ #Plants #Flowers #FlowerReport #MyGarden #BloomScrolling.

We sometimes get a second round of a few blooms in early summer. But I like the foliage as much as, or more than, the blooms.

The bright, cheery blooms of Farfugium japonicum are regular December additions to our garden. The large, glossy leaves make a beautiful deep green mound of foliage year-round in our South Florida climate. ๐ŸŒฑ #Plants #Flowers #MyGarden #FlowerReport #BloomScrolling

Iโ€™ll never think of #poinsettias in the same way again after seeing this amazing display this past October near the ancient pyramid in #Cholula, #Puebla, #Mexico. This plant was easily 8-10 feet (2.5-3 m) high! ๐ŸŒฑ #Plants #Flowers #FlowerReport #BloomScrolling

We thought we were going to lose our Bobo today, but the vet came through with some medication that is helping him. His whiskers have turned from black to white with age, but his affectionate nature remains. Notice how he daintily crossed his paws and posed for this #Caturday photo. #Cats

A female cone of a coontie (Zamia floridana or Z. Integrifolia). The reddish-brown oval shaped cone is about 3.5 inches (9 cm) high. Coonties are the host plant for the rare Atala butterfly. The seeds will be a vivid red-orange color.

A male cone of a coontie (Zamia floridana or Z. Integrifolia). The brown cylindrical cone is about 6 inches (16 cm) high. Coonties are the host plant for the rare Atala butterfly. Lots of light yellow pollen is visible here. It will be carried to the female cone by beetles and other insects.

Like all #cycads, the coontie, Floridaโ€™s only native cycad, has separate male and female plants. Cycads have cones instead of flowers. On the left is a 9cm female coontie cone, with a pollen-laden 15cm male cone on the rt. Beetles and other insects are the pollinators. (See Alt) ๐ŸŒฑ #Plants #MyGarden

More Atala #butterflies on the way! (Eumaeus atala) I counted 18 #caterpillars on one small coontie plant (Zamia integrifolia) this morning. Itโ€™s almost totally defoliated now, but thatโ€™s why I grow them. More leaves will come out before too long. ๐ŸŒฑ #MyGarden #Insects #Cycads

I donโ€™t think indigenous cultures used potterโ€™s wheels until after they were introduced by Europeans, so this piece may be old, but not pre-Colombian.
