I keep telling myself it’s just another awful tech bro bubble. One day it’ll burst. But it’s soul destroying.

I guess it’s the same on every platform.

I have to say bluesky has not been the best experience with respect to visual arts.

For ethical reasons, I really want it to work. But it’s depressing getting followed, then looking through their feed to see they’re just another (m)eh eye bro looking for source material.

Might as well be on IG

[This Is Not] An Archive of Me Note: This is work I produced on my MA a few months ago. I've not shown it outside of that context until now, and probably won't show the vast majority of the work at all as it was, in the truest sens...

New blog post: photochronical.studio/this-is-not-...

#photography #contemporaryarchaeology

Technically, I believe this should be appearing in Bluesky via @ghost.org 6.0 without me having to do this. It does in mastodon. But I’m not seeing my ghost handle pop up when I search for it.

Direction[less?] So, I should really start writing and talking about my current project, the FMP; the Final Major Project. It brings with it a fair bit of self-imposed pressure I have to admit, and my largest failing ...

New blog post:

photochronical.ghost.io/direction-le...

In which I begin to think through what my final major project on the MA in Photography at Falmouth actually is. And struggle with being directionless despite knowing where I’m going.

Ok. This Brundle/Rosberg team up is unexpectedly fantastic.

I think I need to keep it down to the 50/60 image level in future.

Just testing and working through some techniques for my new project.

Going by my current wait time, I’m thinking trying to stack 276 GFX 100 images might go under the “Time consumer” category. It’s an M3 MacBook Pro as well.

I might be here for hours.

I’ll leave it to see what happens but…

A small house with a white picket fence and trees outside it. A car sits to the right and two bins in front.

An image from my series "Bin Day". I wrote about it on my blog: photochronical.ghost.io/bin-day/

There’s something weird happening with Taka Katsuta. It’s a really shame to see.

I really hope this isn’t the last time we see him in #WRC.

Whatever the reason for him not showing up to the final stage, the way he’s been talking, it seems absolutely mad to think it’s to do with the car.

The weather is driving me insane. I need to get some work made this week and the only day it’s not supposed to rain is tomorrow.

Except that’s when I need to show some work at a crit. Very early start tomorrow I think, see if I can get it done before the working day begins for most folk.

Dammit. Got up early to do some more test shots for my final MA project, but it’s absolute tipping down with rain.

After the last few days that’s welcome. But I REALLY need to get these shots done in the next three days.

Drivers who can get in the bin:

1/ drivers who speed up almost imperceptibly as you pass them in the fast lane.

2/ middle lane hoggers

3/ lorry drivers. Just lorry drivers.

At my second stop now. One more to go today. Bloody hot already.

A takeaway coffee cup with “Pret” printed on it. Motorway car park and cafe seats in the background.

On the way home finally. Was on the road at 5am hence the first caffeine of any sort that I’ve had for well over 12 months.

Feeling jittery already. Glorious.

Car’s nearly charged. Another 4 hours today driving (and charging ) and then 6 hours tomorrow and I’ll be home.

I need to remember to try and not make “old man getting up out of his chair” noises as I walk around the gallery when I’m mic’d up.

Wristwatch with a step count visible on it saying 11.2k.

11.2 k steps today. Almost entirely in a gallery setting. 10k yesterday.

#Exhibition curation is really bloody hard work. I can barely move. Helping present a live online presentation of it tomorrow morning as well so it’s not over yet.

Two fine art photographic prints on shelves. One of a stargazer Lily and an archival tag and the other of a face mask and archival tag. A photograph of me and Georgia Metaxas in front of my work. Georgia carefully placing my work on ready made shelves.

Big day today hanging work with the Landings Collective at the Institute of #Photography in Falmouth.

My work was the first to go up. Can’t thank Georgia Metaxas and Ian Blyth enough for an amazingly fun day. Still got just under a day’s hanging to go before we go live tomorrow evening.

And all the usual preparation for a big trip. I don’t travel well, so I generally need to be on top of it all very early so I don’t stress.

In the meantime, I still have to do the work for the final major project too. Got some experimentation done today, which is looking promising.

Absolutely flat out this week preparing for the next week’s MA face to face meet up in Falmouth which is about 14 hr drive. Thankfully my wife sharing the drive with me this year. Last yr it left me totally burst for the entire time.

Lots to do. Portfolio prep. Prints on aluminium to safely pack.

This is a tough one. Is it worth accepting not having Martin Brundle if it’s accompanied by the glorious absence of Crofty.

I’m thinking I’ll grudgingly sacrifice Brundle. #F1

Oh my god. They’ve let Craig Slater on the #F1 grid.

Where the heck is Martin?

So far #FantasyLife has asked me to name myself and an island. If I have to try and think of a name for a pet as well then that’ll account for approximately fifty hours of time played.
