I am sort of shocked that both the outlet and the journalist seem to have thought that nothing bad would happen because, I guess, only a certain class of person has their gambling get out of hand?
“white women attracted to white and male supremacist stuff because they think whiteness will save them” a tale as old as redemption
Yeah, people understandably get excited to see the rifts in MAGA over issues like Epstein and Iran, but in both cases, Fuentes and the more radical right have been the beneficiaries.
Last year, The Atlantic gave me $10,000 to gamble with. What started as a journalistic gimmick turned into something more... unnerving.

exactly
Could MAGA people abandon Trump entirely bc of Iran? Maybe! But that’s not happening at the moment.
This is true, but Rogan is still very much a Trump guy. He spent 5-10 minutes on Iran in his last few pods, in which he also promoted the SAVE act, said Minneapolis ICE resisters are paid protesters, and suggested there’s no difference between a king and a president www.nytimes.com/2026/03/11/u...
many thanks to @brownhist.bsky.social for this video promoting DEAR MISS PERKINS (@kensingtonbooks.bsky.social) just in time for #womenshistorymonth www.youtube.com/watch?v=qsxx...
We saw this week how Republicans shrugged at Rep. Andy Ogles (R-TN) tweeting that "Muslims don't belong in American society." This kind of rank Islamophobia has been part of the GOP for a long time. Sometimes it's at a simmer, and sometimes it's a raging fire. Now is one of those times.
NEW Reign of Error today, I spoke with the great @texasmonthly.bsky.social reporter @robertdownen.bsky.social about Texas GOP's escalation of Islamophobia, its centrality to the Christian nationalist agenda, and how Republicans in other states are escalating too:

You have lots of limitations. Spending shouldn't be one of them. http://store.theonion.com/products/history-sighs-repeats-itself-onion-headline-t-shirt-1
also yes he does know about it! he’s talked about it more than once!
I hate having to hear what Joe Rogan has opinions about, it's like having to consult the learned pig at the fair about everything
I would add: even if you don’t call yourself a legal historian but study history involving law-ish stuff, you’ll find a welcoming, friendly and brilliant group of scholars at ASLH!
NYC! See you tonight!

Jim Cramer suggests on CNBC that Trump could “bomb Tehran into the Stone Age” until Iran reopens the strait, citing U.S. bombings of North Vietnam in the 1970s. Carl Quintanilla points out to him that Hanoi won that war.
TODAY ON @thisguysucked.com: if you forgot that Richard Bruce Cheney was an unabashedly evil human who wanted nothing more than unchecked executive power and forever-war in the Middle East, Nicole Hemmer @pastpunditry.bsky.social and I are here to remind you.
My sense of the discourse is that everyone on this site recognizes that @jamellebouie.net is a very smart, funny, good-natured thinker. Well, good news, he's our guest on @thisdaypod.com to talk about Lincoln's Second Inaugural. Part one is up in the feed now! podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/t...
Over at the newsletter I wrote about the Paramount/Warner deal, how it's best viewed as a well-funded attack on informed consensus, and how we still have collective agency to determine whether or not it actually succeeds.
THURSDAY ON @thisguysucked.com: I am joined by Prof. Nicole Hemmer @pastpunditry.bsky.social of @thisdaypod.com to talk about a man who would’ve absolutely loved hearing that we started a new war in the Middle East. 😒
Putting the finishing touches on this one now, it's a great one. Sign up now so you get it as soon as it drops! @pastpunditry.bsky.social @kcarterjackson.bsky.social
you will be unsurprised to hear that they did not interrogate their terms
both joe rogan and megyn kelly—two of the biggest podcasts out there—had guests today who argued that it’s unnatural for women to work outside the home. so that’s how that’s going
I often argue that media and politics are co-constitutive: each shapes the other. So it’s no surprise that right-wing consolidation of media & government are happening in tandem. And it’s a reminder that we will have to build democratic media as a part of reconstructing democratic governance.
Whatever real journalism you like, please pay for it. The stuff you don't pay for is transforming into propaganda with incredible speed.
congrats!!
Look, you guys, you don't have to praise Tucker Carlson for criticizing Christian Zionism *while being an antisemite.*
I've been criticizing Christian Zionism for 20 years, and I've never needed white nationalists to help me do it.
