Christian anti-socialists make a lot of bad arguments and don't even seem to know the core critique of capitalism. This time they came for @malcolmbfoley.bsky.social and that made me upset enough to spend too much time making a long video about how bad those arguments are.

How can we show generosity and resist greed? What do we do when the love of money seems ever-present in our culture?
We are thrilled to see The Anti-Greed Gospel by @malcolmbfoley.bsky.social selected as @erbks.bsky.social's first book club pick!

Don’t pray instead of act.
Pray in order to act and for the strength and stamina to act.
Thanks again to everyone who has read and engaged with The Anti-Greed Gospel!
I’m most thankful for the fact that a brother in prison was able to read the book and I found out that it’s going to significantly shape the way he wants to live when he gets out (soon).
It was all worth it.
@malcolmbfoley.bsky.social makes a bold argument about the ways our historical sins continue to reverberate into the present and how the Church is compelled to respond.
Haha that was actually Jonathan’s current reading! His book, Asian Americans and the Spirit of Racial Capitalism, is definitely worth reading haha!
I see you’re doing some good reading…
I intentionally frame it in terms of worship because some think you can serve both God and Mammon. Jesus disagrees. If you’re loyal to one, you hate the other.
To say that people are sadistic today in their treatment of the poor and immigrants could be true but it is definitely accurate that the brutality, scope, and scale of the disregard for the vulnerable amounts to making blood offerings to the powers and principalities of greed and domination.
YES. This is exactly what I want people to glean from it.
Is it wrong to want to be rich?

At Dear, Strange Things, I review the powerful and provocative "The Anti-Greed Gospel" by @malcolmbfoley.bsky.social.

I really appreciate the review, Gina!
Just finished "The Anti-Greed Gospel" by @malcolmbfoley.bsky.social and I highly recommend it.
Started it right after coming home from a Civil Rights pilgrimage, and it was absolutely the perfect book to help me internalize the lessons I learned in Alabama.
Paul warns that “those who desire to be rich fall into temptation” (1 Tim 6:9). Is wanting wealth sinful?
@malcolmbfoley.bsky.social joins me on What in the Word? to discuss.👇🏻

Part 2 is the best part!!
Everybody gets one guess. You’ll probably be right.
It’s Palm Sunday. This day & the whole of Holy Week signify that Jesus set his face towards Jerusalem to bodily demonstrate the anti-greed underpinnings of the gospel. It’s fitting that I’ll continue to imbibe @malcolmbfoley.bsky.social’s & @brazospress.bsky.social’s book all week.
Hope you love it!
Faithful Anti-Racism by Christina Edmondson and Chad Brennan.
The one edit I’d make is change “sometimes” to often…haha
It’s a great book!
Oh yeah. Everywhere! Brazos’s website and Bookshop are good spots.

Hey, squad! Thank you to the many of you who have read and reviewed The Anti-Greed Gospel! Please keep putting reviews up so that this dangerous book can get more exposure.
It’s about time folks saw love as a political economy in resistance against the exploitative ravages of neoliberal capitalism.
10/10. No notes.
Love to see your interaction with it, brother! I’d love to know what you think when you finish it!
Glad you’re enjoying it!!!
