✅ Career milestones:
• Caroline took up an academic role at University of Adelaide, working closely with One Basin CRC in Griffith.
• Steve completed his ARC Future Fellowship, moved into a continuing role at the Fenner School and was promoted to Associate Professor (Level D).

✅ Publications: Vitor published a first-author paper on resilience metrics, while Ross, Sreelakshmi, and Vitor led further journal submissions.

✅ Collaborative events: Kendra co-organised Business within Boundaries, a multi-stakeholder event co-convened by ANU Philippines Institute, Ateneo Institute of Sustainability and others.

✅ Conferences:
• Sreelakshmi, Vitor and Steve presented at MODSIM. Sree led a session on long-term hydrological shifts
• Aryanie spoke at the ISEE Degrowth Conference in Oslo
• Ross joined the IIASA Young Scholars Summer Program

✅ Ethics approvals secured: Anjar, Aryanie, Caroline and @vitorhirata.bsky.social rolled out case studies on pathway diversity, our Earth System Impact score, and electricity system tipping points—bringing their research into practical applications!

2025 Highlights from the RHAPS Group at @anufennerschool.bsky.social 🌏

What an exciting year it was! Here are some of our key achievements:

Although, the thread linked above argues it's not the ARC's fault but of the national security departments on which they are now forced to rely.

Completely unacceptable delays to grant announcements. Such delays undermine industry collaborations, abort promising academic careers (especially of junior researchers) and waste a massive amount of $.

Submission date for LP25 round 2 appears to have just been pushed back a month!

Le Monde reporting that a French scientist traveling to Houston to attend a conference was denied entry to US after a search of his phone & computer revealed messages critical of Trump's science cuts, "which [says CPB] conveyed hatred of Trump & could be qualified as terrorism". Computer confiscated

- Australia does not (Discovery Projects, with a separate set of Fellowships), although that may be about to get more complicated. #ARCReview

I only have two data points from my own experience:
- Sweden does (e.g. VR and Formas), though the budgets are sufficiently small that you would usually only apply for part of your own salary

International researchers: Curious if the normal open call from your national science funder allows you to apply for investigator salaries?
