My 5th graders have enjoyed reading Whale Fall by Melissa Stewart this week. They are learning about food webs and this book really helps them understand the role of scavengers and decomposers. #TLSky #EduSky

This quiet, poetic book reminds us of the beauty and strength of rocks, both physical and metaphorical. I loved it. #TLSky

This week we have been reading these books in 4th and 5th grade. These important books introduced them to brave young women who stood up in the face of racism and discrimination. #TLSky #Edusky

I really enjoyed this Maine Student Book Award selection and Schneider Family Book Award winner. Andrew lives with anxiety and OCD. The book follows him throughout a single day of middle school that is about as stressful as it can get. #edusky #tlsky

It's always fun to unbox new books. This box contained a few new titles and replacements for lost or damaged books. #edusky #tlsky

Brave acorn isn’t afraid to jump from the tree to seek out adventure. Then he faces a setback and can’t roll around any more. Could staying still be just what he needs? There is so much to dive into: life cycles of trees, character traits, character changes, & themes are just a few. #edusky #tlsky

The 6-7 bookmarks and poll have been a hit so far this week. Right now the number 6 has more than twice the number of votes as the number seven. 🤷🏻‍♀️#schoollibrarian #6-7 #passiveprogramming

A photo of the cover of Maple’s Theory of Fun.

Just finished this fun book from this year’s Maine Student Book Award list. Fans of diary style books with lots of fun drawings will like this one. Can anxious, practical Maple become fun and win her best friend back? #mainestudentbookaward #schoollibrarian

Middle grade readers need more high-quality short books. I really like this fantasy series from Christina Soontornvat. Each book is less than 150 pages with short chapters. The writing is wonderful & the storyline will have middle grade readers looking for the next book. @soontornvat.bsky.social
