Today I Learned the word ‘eldritch,’ in a mundane description of a book on the Amazon website. Seeing a word for the first time at my age is very rare. It does seem to be a Britishism is you dig deep into its derivation.

The venting makes the popcorn crispier, since they release a lot of the steam trapped in our bags. 🤔🍿

In France food marts I saw this microwave popcorn sold in vented folded paper boxes, and brought home a couple to try — they make a “sweet” as well (what we call kettle corn).

Do the French consider microwave popcorn (or popcorn itself) an American thing? Because the packaging.

The accented characters in Ṣọpẹ́ Dìrísù's name are used to indicate the tones in the Yoruba language. These accents are crucial for correctly pronouncing Yoruba names and words because tone differentiates meaning.

Just watched THE GORGE* and was intrigued by the accents with actor Ṣọpẹ́ Dìrísù’s name in the credits, I had never seen such before.

It was difficult googling it because “accents” have multiple meanings, especially in reference to actors.

The actor is British of Ethiopian heritage.
