Meanwhile, the Mar-a-Lago Club in Palm Beach last night confirmed a Web site report that Epstein has been banned there. β€œHe would use the spa to try to procure girls. But one of them, a masseuse about 18 years old, he tried to get her to do things,” a source told us. β€œHer father found out about it and went absolutely ape-[bleep]. Epstein’s not allowed back.” Epstein denies he is banned from Mar-a-Lago and says, in fact, he was recently invited to an event there.

In October 2007, at a point when Epstein's plea was not public, Page Six reported on everything going on, including the plan to smear the victims. "Mar-a-Lago" described THE SECOND of Trump's "spa girls" stolen by Epstein (the first known was Virginia Giuffre).

Note this is STILL missing one of the most important data points (I tried to alert CNN).

even the ostensibly reasonable conservatives seem to genuinely believe that it is unfair (practically illegitimate) for democrats to play to win.

once you notice that people simply do not believe that republicans have agency or any responsibility for the actions they take, you see it everywhere

if democrats just would have let republicans put one criminal hatchet man on the court, republicans nearly 40 years later would not have put this criminal hatchet man on a court

It is wild (derogatory) that people are talking as if there is not a statute at hand for pretty much every kind of β€œsocial disorder” already. Have you seen statutes? They suck.

13.08.2025 18:28 β€” πŸ‘ 71    πŸ” 5    πŸ’¬ 3    πŸ“Œ 0

Criminalization as we know it originated primarily from fears of social disorder filtered through race, gender, class, etc.β€”not the need to prevent physical violence. Most crimes β€œon the books” have nothing to do w/physical violence. So when ppl want to go *beyond* the books, holy shit be worried.

Itch io appears to have read Mira’s article, gone around and restored a number of titles she flagged as delisted, before coming on to social media to accuse her of misinformation?

Do I have that right? Cuz that looks shady as hell!

@allnews We have paused the sale of Vintage Story on itch. io until further notice. The itch corp has not paid us in over 3 months, despite multiple requests from our side. We will keep selling the game on our site and the humble store without interruption. They are withholding a six figure sum of our revenue share. (edited)

Federal officials are urgently moving sensitive files offline, increasing security, and limiting judge access.

The breach affected multiple district courts, took advantage of long-known vulnerabilities in the Case Management/Electronic Case Files and PACER systems…

the cinematography is immaculate, as always, the set design and dressing, the costumes, the scenery, all of it is perfectly on point and matching the originals, and i am so excited for the corporate malfeasance and explorations on posthuman perspectives on humanity

Strong: Even if there could be a prosecution, that would fall to DOJ to prosecute the violation.

But DOJ is here in this court arguing that the conduct doesn't amount to PCA violations. That position would ask the federal government to police itself.

13.08.2025 17:07 β€” πŸ‘ 246    πŸ” 36    πŸ’¬ 7    πŸ“Œ 1

Strong says the DOJ's position would leave an inability to challenge clearly unlawful conduct in relation to PCA violations. They say it could be a criminal action, but as Your Honor identified, that would raise immunity concerns.

13.08.2025 17:06 β€” πŸ‘ 153    πŸ” 17    πŸ’¬ 4    πŸ“Œ 0

Strong: It lacks basic common sense to assert that a state that is being occupied by a standing army within the state's borders has no legal recourse to challenge the unlawful conduct of those troops. That defies basic principles of federalism, and it ignores Congress's clear intent in enacting PCA

13.08.2025 16:58 β€” πŸ‘ 336    πŸ” 64    πŸ’¬ 5    πŸ“Œ 3

Now Megan Strong is arguing on behalf of the State of California.

She starts by responding to Hamilton's argument that there's no civil remedy/cause of action that the state can bring bc the PCA is a criminal statute.

13.08.2025 16:58 β€” πŸ‘ 150    πŸ” 17    πŸ’¬ 2    πŸ“Œ 0

Breyer: You're saying there's no civil remedy period. And at least there's an argument to be made that there is immunity under the Supreme Court's decision. So that's it too bad? So sad it's over? And that's the end of the case, even though it's a violation, allegedly, of the Posse Comitatus Act?

13.08.2025 16:22 β€” πŸ‘ 339    πŸ” 51    πŸ’¬ 8    πŸ“Œ 5

Hamilton for DOJ: I agree that a prosecution against the President would implicate immunity issues. But the point is, whoever the defendant is, there's no civil enforcement remedy. There's no remedy.

13.08.2025 16:21 β€” πŸ‘ 185    πŸ” 16    πŸ’¬ 2    πŸ“Œ 5

Breyer: Let's assume that the President violated the terms of the Posse Comitatus Act. What then is the remedy? You say there is no civil remedy. Are you saying the president could be prosecuted by DOJ for the criminal act? And you say that in light of the SCOTUS immunity decision? Isn't he immune?
