There are other reasons for the UK government not to award or continue Palantir contracts but this statement of intent by its CEO must surely be decisive?

I mean.

Maybe somebody could look at all this, yeah?

Could still just be a conspiracy for global realignment of energy distribution

It’s the result of massive bot activity, downloading data at a scale which our infrastructure has found challenging. We have been finding this across all our metadata resources in recent months.

Wikipedia is needed now more than ever, 25 years on The online encyclopedia is an antidote to an increasingly poisoned information ecosystem. Researchers should help to nourish it.

"As social-media algorithms fuel extreme opinions and the Internet is flooded with low-quality information, increasingly generated with the aid of artificial-intelligence technologies, the world needs Wikipedia just as much—if not more—as it did at the time of the platform’s creation."

I have to log out of social and news apps and move them all into a folder on the last screen of my phone, to get past that muscle memory of just tapping when opening phone - but then I stick to it pretty well. Very refreshing.

Three Chinook salmon swim close to the camera, underwater vegetation brushing their undersides. A logo for The Revelator newsletter hangs in the upper-right corner of the picture.

In the wake of dam removal on the #KlamathRiver in the #PacificNorthwest, conservation crews have helped plant and seed thousands of native trees and other vegetation.

#Salmon have responded in kind!

In a world of lies, we need the BBC more than ever. This week could be our last chance to save it | Polly Toynbee As the public consultation on the BBC nears its end, the right will be out in force to undermine it. But its supporters can do their bit – with this guidance, says Guardian columnist Polly Toynbee

"The public consultation on the BBC Charter renewal closes next week.
All those who care about the BBC’s future should hurry and send in their response before 10 March.
Battalions of enemies driven by the right will be out in force to undermine it"

The Broligarchy's First World War? AI-guided weapons, two out-of-control authoritarians, no legal authority and a toxic mess of masculinity: welcome to the manosphere's first major conflict

NEW: Is this the broligarchy’s first world war? AI, like war & rape, is a hyper-masculine fantasy of God-like power, a myth at the dark heart of what we’re seeing play out in the Gulf. This war hasn’t replaced the Epstein scandal. It is the Epstein scandal.

power for people Power for People is coordinating a national campaign for Government legislation to support community energy projects to sell energy directly to local homes and businesses. This would make many more projects possible and create the opportunity for local people to buy affordable clean energy generated in their community. In recent months, welcome words from Ministers in Parliament together with the release of the Local Power Plan, show encouraging signs of the Government’s intention to make this reform. However, there has been no detail or timeline outlining when the Government will turn that intent into a reality.

That’s why Power for People is building support from MPs with Early Day Motion (EDM) 2151 ‘Buying Community Energy Locally’. This is a Parliamentary motion which allows MPs to publicly record their support for the reform.

EDM 2151 has now been signed by over 100 MPs. As more MPs come on board, the more effective it will be in persuading the Government to legislate for this change they keep saying they want to make.

River Boyne to close for salmon fishing as stocks fall to crisis levels The River Boyne is to be closed for salmon fishing this year to preserve stocks.

This is a slow death for the River Boyne. There has never been any particular effort to alleviate the pressure on this river despite years (decades?) of warnings and reports

Reports of gas shortages are categorically untrue and lead to dangerous scaremongering.

Reporting in the Telegraph presents a completely implausible scenario in which the UK could be disconnected from all forms of gas supply and energy markets.

Dirty water, death and decline: the inside story of a privatisation scandal There is no end in sight to the pollution caused by a ‘broken’ system. Experts say it could even be getting worse

“Prof Pedro Arrojo-Agudo, UN Special Rapporteur on the human right to clean water, has singled out the English system for criticism, saying water should be managed as a publicly owned service, rather than run by private companies set up to benefit shareholders.”
