Why am I so against generative AI in games?

Because I simply do not want my initial reaction to art to be one of suspicion and scrutiny, AI slop is fundamentally damaging my relationship to art and artistry, and I am deeply resentful that it is forcing me to be guarded when I should be wowed.

The Meaty Sodium Strips sit menacingly on the counter. August: And learning to cook is important. First we should- Panel 4 Gustopher flings his arms in the air and yells out- Gustopher: I DON'T WANT YOU TO DIE! It occurs to August that he probably could have phrased his comment about not being around to make breakfast a little better. The Meaty Sodium Strips want you to know that one strip contains five hundred times your recommended daily allotment of sodium.

When I was a kid in the 80s I remember all those clicks and pops you'd hear when making calls as the physical relays physically connected you to your destination. It was fascinating.

I'm so glad this tech is being kept alive somewhere.

In all such cases, the final product reflects the creativity and expression of our own development team.

Not to be the fun police but I do hope people know that Arc Raiders does use generative AI for voice acting, and by supporting the game you're letting higher-ups know that this is an okay practice.

They try to downplay this on the Steam store page by describing the AI usage as vaguely as possible.
