A poem about my fall into violence. I spent my childhood believing I was weak until I learned I could fight just as well, if not harder. I got drunk and got into a fight and I nearly didn’t stop, this could have ended 2 lives. Its taken years to come to terms with the guilt of the life I lived

10 years ago today I was dying. I’d died once, could have gone any time. I had TB and due to the guilt of my past life of addiction and toxic meds had led me into a full on psychological breakdown, I was patient zero of a super virulent strain of tb. God hated me so much he decided to end the world

In #addiction I was a broken man. To say my life was unmanageable would be an understatement. Robbed of my #identity by the very #trauma I had sought to mask and hide.

Seeing yourself as broken is a #survivor response, to be Bold is to #thrive. Change perspective, change your #life

I agree. However the man who was murdered didn't make legislation. Ok he may have used that to his advantage to line his own pockets but does that mean a mother has to lose a son, a child, a father, husband and brother.

Me and #Nurse Jackie who saved my life on 29th April 2015, the day I was released after almost losing my life to #TB because of the way I lived. 2 months in hospital. Id also had a full psychotic #breakdown convinced I had caused the apocalypse. 8st and 6ft 1. Jackie is now my biggest #supporter

In 2026 I spent 6 months working with survivors of human trafficking and cataloguing their stories. Writing this #book gave me me the courage not only to acknowledge my #story and #trauma but to share it.
