Long time no see! Last check before they get pulled out of the fridge went well, they're all so cozy in there I'll feel kinda bad lol. Not bad enough though I miss them all so much 😔

next check; everyone but Sazabi is doing well, she has some swelling I've been watching for a while that hasn't changed, but I noticed it's spread in small pockets up her lower body so it's clearly getting worse. pulling her from brumation today to slowly warm her back up and get her to a vet

A mostly brown lizard is sitting upside down on an almost vertical wooden branch. The throat and belly are lighter coloured than the sides and back. The head is lifted from the surface of the branch. The lizard is looking down in the picture.

A light brown snake is looking slightly to the left of the camera. The snake has its mouth slightly open. It has both medium and dark brown markings along its body. The head and the front part of the body is held in an S-shape showing it is in a defensive position. The neck is somewhat laterally compressed which it does for the same reason that a cobra shows its hood - to appear larger when faced with a potential threat.

Found in southern Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines and Singapore.

I can't verify it, but I'm pretty certain Haro is blind, or at least HEAVILY visually impared. not the biggest deal for a ball python, thankfully, but I need to think about how to move forward with her enclosure if I decide to change it around 🤔🤔

second check went well, no one has lost weight except Cas, who's lost about 5%...not enough to pull him out, but more than I was expecting. if he loses another 8-10% I'll pull him out early. gotta get his enclosure nice and cleaned in the meantime -_-

there's a lot of people in the US working with Zamenis. I know someone with normal and melanistic persicus and they're tempting 👀

sauromates are on my short list for species I want to keep next, they seem every bit as gorgeous and fun to keep! were they fairly easy for you to find in the EU? they're basically unheard of here.

A whitish grey rat snake is partly curled up in the picture. It has an reddish brown eye with a black pupil. There are black markings on the head. Along the back, there are reddish brown spots with black borders. Along the sides there are a number of black spots. It is looking slightly to the right of the camera.

🐸Leopard snake (Zamenis situla).

This is the more common blotched variant. One with the same colours but longitudinal stripes also exists.

Max. size 100 cm (39.4").

Found in Italy, the Balkans, parts of Turkey and Ukraine.

Considered Least Concern by the IUCN.

thats a diones rat snake! they have one of the largest ranges of any snake, but her locality/lineage is from Vladivostok.
