Meet the warriors trying to teach the west how to fight in the Arctic Melting sea ice, rising tensions and the relearning of what it will take to master the art of Arctic warfare

This is a great article by @helenwarrell.bsky.social on the realities (and likelihood) of Arctic Warfare. Chuffed to have helped a tiny bit in its construction.

Reading it makes me eternally grateful I joined the Navy...

Three cheers for the US Navy, which takes risks to keep the rest of us safe A friendly fire incident in the Southern Red Sea shouldn’t distract from the difficult and technical work undertaken by the American Navy

Thoughts on the USS Gettysburg blue-on-blue

1⃣Still🤷‍♂️ as to how this happened but...
2⃣No such thing as a perfect air picture, even now
3⃣The more you put yourself in harm's way, the more mistakes can happen. Many BZs to the USN for repeatedly taking this risk🫡

During night RU mil transport ADLER did another 3 x slow back and forth runs, this time across gas pipelines/cables connecting gas field Ormen Lange to Norwegian shore and ultimately to UK.

20% of UK's annual gas consumption runs here.

ADLER keeps on moving along UK connections.

Scare show?

Scrapping our aircraft carriers would be a costly mistake The ships are good value and strategically vital. Wargames alone are not a justification for their retirement

A nice gentle topic for my second post on here...😳

Aircraft carriers: strategic necessity or extravagant folly?
