As part of my plan to make more time for my actual work, I've been unsubscribing from email lists. Tons of them. It's so damn satisfying and hopefully will result in less "oh, wait, I got an email!" in the future. (Kid emails me to circumvent no cell phone rules so can't just turn email off.)

Just decided out of nowhere that I want to try to do something kind of crazy to give myself more time to work on my own projects. We'll see if it actually works. At the very least I'll probably get more done trying even if I don't reach the full goal, so that's probably a win.
I was already pissed about the CIA sunsetting the World Factbook but man it's extra annoying to have to hunt for things on Internet Archive that should be easily accessible even if they aren't updating them anymore! #researchproblems

Adventures in time change: after husband set all the clocks forward during the day yesterday, we tried to tell the teen it was bedtime an hour early. 🤦 It didn't work because she's 16 and can read a clock.
My husband has been going around changing clocks all day and I am so confused as to why the kitchen is in a different time zone now.

After watching the Lilith Fair documentary I'm listening to Lilith Fair music and got reminded of my favorite Lisa Loeb song ("Do You Sleep?"). Haven't heard it in years; still know every word. (Fun fact: Lisa Loeb remains the only celebrity anyone has ever told me I look like. And we both knit!)
Agreed! I want to say Knitting from the Top but they are all so great. And I can't imagine my knitting life without the treasuries of knitting patterns. So yes, all of them.
So anyway, go pick up a knitting book. Learn from the ancestors. And share what you find out! If you already knew Walker I'd love to know what your favorite book of hers is. 6/6
Zimmermann, Walker, Maggie Righetti, Deborah Newton, Mary Thomas, and on and on, those are my knitting grandmothers, too. And I don't know if people who learn on the Internet have access to that wisdom. I feel sorry for them if they don't. 5/6

I use her stitch dictionaries all the time, and all of this in not even to mention her work in feminism, goddess mythology, tarot and I-ching. What a life. What a legacy. 3/6
First it's really hard to imagine that something like that hasn't always existed, but it's still pretty new in the history of knitting. She also helped popularize knitting garments from the top down and mosaic/charted knitting. 2/6
So sad to hear today of Barbara G. Walker's passing. The first book I read when I started writing about knitting professionally was Elizabeth Zimmermann's Knitting without Tears, which sent me quickly to Barbara Walker when I learned she (Walker) invented the slip slip knit. 1/6 #craftsky 🧶

Year two of Pantone giving us the color we deserve. This year's was like if meh was a color; next year's is literally nothing (white, aka Cloud Dancer). It's OK, Pantone, we gave up, too.
