We closed this vibrant month of October with a Staff Exchange and institutional alignment mission at Human Technopole in Milan, one of our key partners in the MPS_NOVA EU Twinning project.
On October 16–17, we gathered at NOVA Medical School - Faculdade de Ciências Médicas in Lisbon for our Interim Meeting — two days of scientific exchange, networking, and forward-looking discussions. A perfect moment to take stock, celebrate progress, and plan the challenges ahead.

🔬 October was an intense and inspiring month for MPS_NOVA!
We were thrilled to host the 2nd edition of our training workshop on Advanced Organ-on-Chip & Advanced Microscopy, bringing together researchers and students to strengthen technical skills and exchange knowledge across disciplines.
We are thrilled to highlight the participation of Inês Fonseca from NOVA Medical School - Faculdade de Ciências Médicas, who presented a flash talk on her poster titled: “Uncovering the effect of ultraviolet radiation on melanin processing in keratinocytes.”

Last Friday, the MPS_NOVA Twinning project proudly joined the European Researchers’ Night at Marina de Oeiras, an inspiring event that brought science closer to society. 🌍🔬
This month, Joana Cavadas, PhD student at ITQB NOVA, had the exciting opportunity to attend the EMBO | EMBL Symposium: The Human Microbiome.
Joana presented her poster titled:
“An intestine-on-chip model to study the role of gut microbiota in host metal homeostasis” 🧬✨
Last month, Ana Botelho, PhD student at ITQB NOVA, participated in the Gordon Research Conference on Staphylococcal Diseases. She presented a poster entitled ‘Divergent host interaction profiles of the two major S. epidermidis lineages during skin colonization’.
On 22-24 July, #MPS_NOVA held the Training Workshop Pluripotent Stem Cell Basics, hosted by our partner #HumanTechnopole.
The event brought together researchers and students for three intensive days of theoretical and hands-on training on the cultivation and preservation of hPSCs.
The MPS_NOVA EU Twinning project is pleased to announce the successful completion of our first Staff Exchange “Reprogramming Somatic Cells into Human Induced Pluripotent Stem Cells (hiPSCs)” — hosted by Giovanni Faga group at Human Technopole.

On May 26th, the MPS_NOVA EU Twinning project had the pleasure of welcoming colleagues from the Innovation and Funding Offices of the Max Delbrück Center, Dr. Nevine Shalaby and Dr. Seda Çöl Arslan, for a highly productive meeting.
On May 26th we hosted the #MPS_NOVA training workshop on "Strategy in R&I Management", with facilitators from our partner institution, the Max Delbrück Center.
