I think a lot about the chance we had at the start of COVID to finally become a more compassionate, collectivist nation, and how profoundly we were failed not only by the sociopathic greed of the ruling class but by each other.

I saw someone call Ai a Thneed and I can't stop thinking about it. It's a PERFECT analogy. The Thneed was an all-purpose tool that didn't do anything really useful. It was a fad that did major damage to the environment to make the Onceler a billionare. It left no real lasting impact, only damage.

Do people still write fanfics that's just Putting Characters In Situations? Like back when I started reading fanfic it seemed like "inserting the cast into a reality show" was a really common type of fic. Or "all characters but one are toddlers for no reason and the one has to babysit"
