Having driven over it without any form of ADAS and traffic coming the other way, that was fun enough - watching two competing "moderns" coming in opposite directions could be hilarious...

Parent, Alfa and Triumph-owning petrolhead, clay pigoen shooter and server support ninja. Not necessarily in that order - or the same time!

A mate's Mk1 facelifted Focus needed the front bumper coming off to get at some of the bulbs. His comment was something like "how the fook do I do that by the roadside in an emergancy, Ford?!"
Mr Bradface,
I am [odd name here] representing [famous legal brand here] and am dealing with a very distant relation's estate. You are sole beneficiary to many millions, but to release it you need to pay me many few pounds to grease wheels. Send amazon vouchers now! Wishes best [different name] π
I've genuinely started to wonder if the companies that retrofit EV drivetrains into classics would ever contemplate doing it with a modern EV, just to remove the computers and software-enablement shite that seems to get shoehorned into modern cars, leaving a reliable, fuss-free EV at the end of it π€
30.09.2025 16:57 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Dad had a Saab 99GL on a W-plate in yellow.
I remember, though it was FWD, the engine was in longitudinally but essentially backwards - so cylinder 1 was against the bulkhead, and the clutch behind the radiator.
I also remember something like 12 turns of the wheel lock-to-lock, which felt a lot.
Been with Mrs C to cheer on the daughter running in a half-marathon, now just recovering from the walk around the park (covid... pah...!) and starting to prepare the roast dinner for later.
A beer has been opened π
Been to #WollatonPark to cheer on our daugher as she ran the Robin Hood half marathon this morning.
The Industrial Musem beam engine in the park was in steam. It would have been rude not to go and see it - once parental duties were complete - and share the enjoyment of some parallel motion action!
... to Waitrose?
27.09.2025 22:40 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0That will be the key challenge in the UK: making the new identity provider work securely & reliably with existing systems, which don't necessarily talk to each other natively or are bespoke.
In places like Estonia, where it works, they built services from the ground up around the identity provider.
This time around I'm more clear-headed than I was previously - I couldn't do anything but sit and gorm out last time - but I've got the full gamut of coldy symptoms going on.
As I said to @mrjalco.bsky.social : zero stars on trip advisor, would not go again... π€£
In Estonia, they built their public IT systems around their identity setup - which worked for them as they had a clean sheet having left the USSR.
UK govt will be developing / buying an identity model and then pounding on it with a hammer to try make it fit existing systems which won't work as well
... then the costs will balloon as the software local authorities use has to be adapted to use this central identity record - noting some of it is propietary and not standards based.
It will be a nightmare of poorly-identified requirements, vague specifications, and ultimately high technical debt.
Given the UK govt's prior form with IT projects, they'll hand it to one of their usual consultancy partners who will take the cash and arguably deliver something not fit for purpose.
Specs will likely be drawn up by someone who doesn't understand the tech, let alone nuances of it & security reqs...
The sheer volume of systems this would have to interact with at a local level alone make it a significant technological challenge when considered nationally - and I don't believe we have a suitable identity infastructure at a central govt level to start with.
It'll be a series of expensive bodges π¬

Thinking about it, yeah. Day undecided at the minute though!

Yep. Hospital staff were lovely, but I did get fed up of random Drs standing in front of me with the "follow my finge... oh!" routine
I was a medical curiosity. They'd heard covid can do some weird neurological shite in rare cases, but hadn't seen it in the flesh - so I got poked and prodded.
Similar, except the first time one of my eyes stopped moving in one direction and I finished up in hospital as they thought I was having a stroke.
Nope, just covid causing a 6-nerve palsy. Symptoms went away within about 36 hours - but the headache I had as a result of it was magnificent π€£

Anti-corrosion cavity wax such as Bilt Hamber's S50(?) will very much be your friend here.
I filled the boxes and cavities of my '71 PI with as much of the stuff as I could get my hands on, and still don't think I've done enough π€£
Looking forward to following this one, Chloe π
What is it like underneath? 70's cars - and the Mk2 big six is no exception here - do love to rot... π
Had it twice myself, that I know of. Zero stars on trip advisor, would not go again.
I found the Lemsip cold-and-flu max strength tablets helped me but YMMV.
Hope you're feeling better soon π
Having watched Ed since before the General Election - whether he was falling out, or off, something or not - I've been impressed and think the Lib Dems may make quite a pragmatic government if they can unlock increased widespread support π

Escalated it to OFCOM given we don't have Proportional Representation in this country.
I'm glad the Triumph isn't under a cover anymore - the closest size I could get to deal with the car's length in Halfords was the cover for large SUV.
Fitted the PI front-to-back perfectly, but side-to-side there was just too much spare. Wind would get under it, and horrible condensation too π
That's lovely!

Although I'm opposed to any form of AI, I suspect that image may have been engineered by someone inclined to garnish the truth to the benefit of their argument. Politics is full of that at the mo.
Either that, or it was just for giggles. Politics perhaps less so at the mo! π€£
Much though I'd like to independently confirm the response in that image was actually bad, the AI summary google automatically gave me was entirely sensible (sorry)
However, I made the mistake of running the search on my work PC, and HR now want a word... πΆ π€£
