I do get it. I do understand the why, it's still a shame that it has to be done.

It is a shame that you have to wave the Doctor Who card to get the publicity you deserve. I love the blue box show, but it’s not the only thing worth preserving.

If I ever do mention it, it comes with my subconscious screaming at me that I’m bringing the person I’m talking to down, and that I’m forcing my shitty past onto their ears when they’d be happier not knowing what I’ve been through.

Like sure, people are happy to listen to me talk about it, people care; But no one *wants* to hear it. I can’t just bring it up in conversation, even though it’s something I think about every single day without fail.

For a lot of my childhood, life wasn’t particularly kind to me, and not being able to talk about that had a very isolating impact on me.

And now I’ve reached a point where I do feel able to talk about it, and it’s isolating in a different way because I know no one *really* wants to hear it.

A couple weeks ago someone told me I’m “too nice to have bad things happen to”.
