The setting sun hit some blooms of my red fairy duster (Calliandra californica) just right. Love this shrub: blooms all year, doesn't need much water and is a definite bee, hummingbird and butterfly magnet.
This will go down as the most incompetent administration in history.

An exceptionally well-preserved Ordovician trilobite I came across this week.
Not my find this time — but the level of detail is incredible, with the thoracic segments and cephalon almost perfectly intact.
