Amazing how many of my students love to cite the well-known text the author wrote that we're NOT using in class instead of the lesser-known text we ARE using for class that I've also lectured from all semester.
Why in the world would they do such a thing???
Oh wait...AI think AI know.... <sigh>

This is horrific - and predictable. Trump and the Republicans are making it harder to be anything other than white, male, cishet....

Happy Monday!
What I read: "God's Monsters" by Esther J. Hamori. Just finished it two nights ago, and I loved it.
This book breaks down the portrayals of monsters you'll find in the Bible - and how several of them are actually employed by God to do God's will.
Highly recommend.
The Trevor Project is incredibly important. I have met several people at my events who were *alive* because of The Trevor Project.
A little feminist inspiration for your week: Feminism isn't about making women stronger. Women are already strong. It's about changing the way the world perceives that strength. -G.D. Anderson
As I said the other day (and apparently lost several followers from it!), the United States is quickly evolving into a theocratic state. That thin wall between state and church is nonexistent anymore - and that should terrify every person of every religion.

Your all-too-frequent reminder that the United States is now living comfortably in the realm of a theocracy - a government controlled by a religious group. Specifically, Christianity is taking over, and Evangelicals are cheering.

Thrilled to announce we are now only 3 months away from the new book, "Drinking Witch's Blood"!
The hardcover and Amazon-exclusive ebook launch in October, just in time for Halloween.
Let the countdown begin!
Okay, gang, help me out. I got "Moon Called" ebook on a really good sale, but...I'm just bored.
Anyone read this series? Can anyone give me a good review of it? What am I missing? Thank you.

When law enforcement becomes religious enforcement, we're all screwed. THIS is what I meant every time I warned of theocracy in the United States.

The wall separating church and state (as shabbily built as it might have been!) has just had a HUUUUGE hole punched through it.

A free YA ebook showed up in my Nook queue today, and it looked like fun. I added it to my cart, hit "checkout," and was immediately stopped by the 2-factor authentication sending me a code.
If someone is hacking into my Nook account to send me a free book, just let them do it. You know? Hah!
What do these red & white figures mean to mythology?
Subscribe to my newsletter at www.hdeanfisher.com, and you'll find out in this month's Myth of the Month!
But hurry: The next newsletter goes out Sunday at 7 a.m.
To be blunt, this Pride Month has been absolutely shitty for LGBTQ+ rights. As demonstrated by yet another drain-circling ruling by our illustrious SCOTUS, when empathy is deemed offensive, minority groups get erased.

Today is Juneteenth, the 165th anniversary of the announcement by Union General Gordon Granger to the people of Galveston, TX, that all enslaved people were free!
Equality is still imperfect (note the obstacles that still remain) but today marks a significant first step. Let's keep moving forward.
Please share the following resources far and wide so that anyone experiencing the hell of gender discrimination - especially young people! - knows help is available:
As we enter Pride Month, be aware that The Gay Agenda HAS been uncovered - and you're not going to believe what it is...
Day-job complaint: It's hard not to think AI was somehow involved in the writing of students' final project research proposals when at least 1/3 of the students correctly propose using a stat (Pearson's r) we never even covered in class

Remember, don't dead-name the new guy
See how easy that was?
Got this in the mail from a local funeral home.
Is this just random advertising, or is the universe trying to send me a message? I don't think I'm that old yet...or am I? Should I disregard this, or would that be at my own peril?
I mean...yikes?
It's Halfway to Halloween! Join me and a bunch of spooky vendors at Alleycrafts in Kingston, PA, as we celebrate the best time of year!
Just finished S1 E3, "Long, Long Time," of "The Last of Us" and OMG is that an incredible episode! You watch them meet, fall in love, live their lives together and grow - and all the while, you know that they've succeeded beyond measure: loving and living for each other. That is powerful writing
I love the gusto with which Sheetz advertises its cafe. "Handmade drinks! Only $2!"
Dude, this is not 1768. Your neighbor, Mr Cobbler, did not spend the last 10 hours measuring and cutting and sewing to make you a brand new pair of shoes. It's pre-measured ingredients in a plastic cup. 😆
