Blimey, BBC Four, what have we done to deserve this? Next Wednesday 30 July, the late evening schedule is devoted to THREADS and THE WAR GAME, two of the most horrifying and bleakly depressing films ever made. There will be documentaries, too. Get the snacks in!

Monster Man: Special Episode: Intelligent weapons Patreon backer David brings you this special episode all about what happens when the real monster ... is man. No, wait! Swords. The real monster is swords.   If you're enjoying the show, why not...

Last year I wrote a post on the literary origins of demon swords. Today, I discovered that @gonzohistory.bsky.social mostly beat me to it on the Monster Man podcast a few years earlier. I needn't have bothered! :)

THE ENEMY WITHIN: A COMPANION ADVENTURES. More than a decade of fixing The Enemy Within.

INTERVIEW WITH PAUL VERNON, PART ONE INTERVIEWS. One of White Dwarf’s early writers talks about β€˜The Town Planner’, Starstone, Fatemaster and more.

Following on from my blog post last week, here is a link to my full interview with Paul Vernon from a couple of years back. It took years to get the interview and I think it contains some fascinating background to events in UK roleplaying in the 1980s.

Thanks again to Paul for giving up his time.

There is a new Lost Warhammer post today... but it's not by me! @graemedavis.bsky.social has written a post on his blog about two #Warhammer Fantasy Battle supplements he proposed, but which were not taken forward: Regiments of Renown and Heroes for Hire.

I think about it a lot, especially in respect of the blogs and suchlike that I quote.

I was amused to read someone suggest that modern gaming history would be better preserved than in the past, because of wikis and other online content. My experience is online material is the most ephemeral.
