yes, that's totally the vibe I get

you could imagine in a couple of years someone high up at Bloomsbury going, btw what's this Osprey thing?

like all that would probably be 2 months of releases for Osprey at their current rate

the adventure presents series seemed to kind of stumble and quietly disappear, there was the Dredd Dread thing which cool idea bit hardly a major release

couple of reissues and joyride

T&T has been on the boards for ages now and still hasn't launch it's kickstarter so they're taking their time

yeah, slight similarity with Rebellion but then again, R seem to be much more cautious, or stately perhaps in their release schedule.

like we featured them in our first issue 5 years ago at which point they'd been going for maybe a year or so. and they haven't put out much in that time

look at what they put out and it's as if not a lot more diverse and interesting and willing to take risks than 99% of indie publishers

so I'd just love to do a deep dive into the whole setup

oh absolutely 100% it's being part of Bloomsbury, having that backing and access to retail that gives them that advantage, but then it makes it even stranger in some ways that they are part of this much larger, established company, they have a kind of small c conservative vibe and yet

once you learn that pre-normal warehouses were basically ponies and that even the kind of later like 14thc warhorses that your lads in full plate rode on were often not more than 5 ft high it's hard to think of knights quite the same way

And actually speaking of which I am currently enjoying (& writing about) this

up supplements, adventures etc for their RPGs doesn't help their titles stick around in the public imagination

fascinating company tbh, I'd love to do a really in depth look at their strategy and business plans as there's something deeply odd and interesting about them

there's a very good case to be made that Osprey are one of the most interesting British RPG (and indeed wargame (especially narrative) and board game) publishers at the moment

but it is very hard to keep up with what they push out plus the tendency to kind of fire & forget with little to no follow

also the horses are about twice the size of AS warhorses

Five Tiers of RPG Publishing Hasbro’s annual earnings came out this week, so I took a look. It is truly staggering how much Wizards of the Coast has changed the company since they were acquired; when looking at unadjusted earnings the Wizards of the Coast and Digital Games division was the only one that turned a profit in the entire company. Not only that, but Wizards is responsible for roughly 47% of the entire company’s revenue and over 90% of all revenue growth over the last year.
