Cancer of the ovary, fallopian tube or peritoneum usually causes symptoms that are similar to common non-cancerous conditions. This can make it difficult to diagnose early.
If you have any of these symptoms or get these symptoms regularly, your GP should offer you cancer tests:
• a long-lasting bloated or swollen tummy
• feeling full quickly when you eat
• loss of appetite
• pain in the lower tummy area or back
• peeing (passing urine) more often than usual
• needing to pee urgently (feeling like you cannot hold on).
Other symptoms may include:
• a change in your normal bowel function (diarrhoea or constipation)
• weight loss for no obvious reason
• unexplained or extreme tiredness (fatigue)
• vaginal bleeding after the menopause.
If you are aged 50 or older and develop symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) for the first time, you should also have tests. IBS can cause bloating and changes in bowel function. But it does not usually start after the age of 50.

There’s no screening for ovarian cancer and it’s really difficult to spot: you can’t squidge your ovaries in the shower to check for lumps. Also it’s very good at masquerading at other things, like IBS and diverticulitis.

Please take a look at this list of symptoms - and share if you can.

See the problem here?”

My email to Sky:
Dear Sir or Madam,

Perhaps you could explain something to me as a humble viewer without the deep and extensive experience of politics in your organisation.

The recent by-election in Caerphilly delivered a seat held by Labour since - well, forever - into the hands of one Lindsay Whittle of Plaid Cymru. A substantial news story.

I watched it live and saw Mr Whittle, MS, interviewed by the BBC. There was a scramble to interview the candidate. Not Mr Whittle, but the candidate for the Reform Party which came a passably distant second. No one seemed much interested in the winner.

Odd, but never mind. You're all professionals, I'm sure you know which way is up.

Sky News has a flagship news programme on a Sunday morning hosted by Trevor Phillips, and surely, with this being a huge news story, it would feature substantially in the programme.

And so it has. And so you have an interview.

And the person you ask about it is Zia Yusuf.

Of the Reform Party.

On the understanding I'm just a not very bright member of your audience, can you please explain to me how that makes any sense at all? I'm trying my best to understand it, but I'm really stuck here.

Looking forward to my political education from the experts,

Pete Marchetto

It is a scandal totally unprecedented in history that the Vice President has shared a video depicting the President as king. It’s an obscene violation of every founding American principle.

And nothing will come of it. It makes me physically sick.

Question from me: "I warmly welcome the Leader of the House to his new role and associate myself with the support across the House for my hon. Friend the Member for Washington and Gateshead South (Mrs Hodgson). Members have raised many times the unacceptable level of threats that we face. Increasingly, abuse and threats are being driven and whipped up by one platform in particular, X, previously known as Twitter, which has become a sewer of antisemitism, racism, misogyny and dangerous conspiracy theories. Its owner has specifically targeted Members of this House. With a new director of communications in No. 10 and a refreshed Front Bench, may we have a debate in Government time on whether it is appropriate for that platform to continue to be used for official Government communications?"

Answer from Sir Alan Campbell, Leader of the House: "What my hon. Friend says about X is truly shocking. We are very much in favour of free speech, but we are also against incitement to violence. We have delivered the Online Safety Act 2025 to seek to strike the balance between user protection and freedom of speech. On the matter of the Government’s use of X, it is right that the public are kept up to date with information and a number of people still use X, although of course many are moving to other platforms. I am sure that the Government will take that into account in our deliberations in future, and we also keep our wider social media practices under review."

It melts my head that X is still used for official Government communications, and, catching up on today's news and the fact we have a foreign billionaire inciting violence on our streets, it's clearer than ever that this should end.

I raised this in Parliament last week 👇

I hope politicians from all parties come together to condemn his deeply dangerous and irresponsible rhetoric.

Britain must stand united against this clear attempt to undermine our democracy.

You can't pretend patriotism involves the defacement of our actual cultural heritage.

The authoritarian checklist It is time to admit that America is no longer a functioning democracy

New, from me:
America is no longer a functioning democracy. It is a competitive authoritarian system, hurtling rapidly toward authoritarianism.
This was a hard piece to write but we can't move forward if we don’t acknowledge where we are.

Let’s clear up some facts. There is no such thing as an “illegal immigrant”. The UK DOES NOT grant asylum visas overseas, except for very limited schemes (except large schemes for Ukraine and Hong Kong).Refugees can only claim for asylum when in the UK. So their fate can only be decided, once here.

Here's how the real two-tier Britain works:
1. Whatever Nigel Farage says, however stupid, is looped and discussed by the media, while left-wing voices are treated as noises off.
2. Tiny far-right protests get massive airtime, while 10s of 000s gathering for Palestine or green causes are ignored.🧵

The fundamental choice has not been as stark since World War II: democracy and freedom, or dictatorship and tyranny.

Trump and his sycophants are siding with the latter. The rest of us must loudly, proudly, and boldly proclaim our allegiance to the former.

They should both be done for incitement to racial hatred.

They won't be, of course, because the police are too busy attesting 90-year-olds for wanting to feed Gaza, and Labour are too busy trying to out-Farage Farage.

I prosecute and defend the most serious sexual offences in our courts.

The overwhelming majority of offenders are British-born. Overwhelmingly the victim is someone known to them, either a partner or relative.

Anybody purporting to care about protecting women might start there.
